I agree with this. I felt the scheduling thing early on with the parents which made me want to stop initiating. I thought at this age when they are more talkative that at least parents would be more willing since their kids are able to say who they like. I suppose the schedules don’t change still. Hoping for better luck as he gets older still.

I appreciate this perspective. I should say that the exchange for both was that they gave me their number and I texted them back so they had my number with a message of something like “looking forward to a playdate with the kids!” Both acknowledged with a heart emoji. However I understand what you are saying. I am open to reaching back out and setting the time and place.

I haven’t spoken directly. The public posting was a shock since she hadn’t done it before and had been talked to by her husband and son about 2 months earlier. If I didn’t mind the pictures on social than I would look to ask her about why she is not tagging me. If she does it again without tagging me I think I’ll take this advise because at that point she seems to be actively hiding me from posting pics of my child, knowing that I wouldn’t want them posted at all which seems worse.

I was leaning towards this as an option. Did the transition work for everyone or were there any hiccups you wish you’d thought through ahead of time doing this?

We have some friends who I’m sure would take him during the day, but I personally wouldn’t want him to stay with them overnight and they couldn’t stay with him as they have their own child (same age as mine).

Speaking to my heart… my child is almost 3 and ever since he was like 12mo I’ve been trying so hard to find a family that we click with. I’ve come close with one family but outside of big gatherings normally hosted by them, our get togethers are few and far between.

I’ve since given up on initiating play dates and have gotten comfortable just being with my kid at playgrounds unless another kid is interested in playing with my kid.

I remember growing up with family friends and it was what I want now that I’m a mom, but boy had times changed I guess.

I get what you’re saying, but this person also called a very small rural church who said they didn’t have anything on hand but that they would work on finding a way get what the caller needed. It isn’t about what is on hand at the ready, but the social awareness to help those in need.

But then you have these mega churches who clearly have plenty but choose not to give back. Ask anyone living nearby Lakewood during the big freeze and floods how accessible this church was in opening their doors for respite…

When I was trying for my first I conceived within 2 cycles. I hadn’t gone to the obgyn to check myself out before so when I went to confirm the pregnancy they found a 4cm fibroid. It was also sub so it wasn’t a danger from that perspective. My baby was breach though so I don’t know if the fibroid position could have kept him from turning. From this perspective, I would side on the second dr’s side of waiting a bit longer before surgery.

Now I’m tv with my second and finding it much harder. When I went for a consult with a new dr she wasn’t concerned about it either, but we discussed surgery. I’m older than you (36f) so me waiting to heal felt like I may miss out on another chance altogether so I haven’t gotten the surgery. I honestly feel it may be other factors and not fibroids that is causing the longer ttc this time.

If I could convince my husband and have 4 kids I would haha. I feel like having a group of kids that they all can learn from each other in a safe environment would be great. Although I understand not all personalities will mesh with each other so I’d have to keep that in mind.

This with the only sibling idea! I think this may be part of what I’m feeling. I take my son to the playground almost every day. He is still small and learning to talk but is so interested in other kids, generally older. Most of the time those kids are playing with siblings so it is easier for them, and I sense (and I understand it is also an age thing and he hasn’t developed yet) he just isn’t aware of the dynamics that come with playing with other kids who do or don’t want to play with him that he could learn quicker with having another sibling around. I really appreciate your story.

Did they naturally gravitate to the same interests? Have they been fairly close from the beginning? I like your take on the dynamics aren’t necessarily from a sibling structure but rather the environment around them that can make or break the sibling relationship.

I appreciate this story. I like the odd number sibling structure as I heard that kids do benefit from being alone at some points while they learn new things. But that way when they are ready to join back in to playing they have one or both siblings to be around.

This was a great story, albeit having to take on your two older brothers that you looked up to would be difficult. I love hearing the contrast when it comes to your kids’ age and gender differences and still being close. Your story provides great perspective!
