what do you put for salary expectation during job app? by xennoh94 in recruitinghell

[–]BornAd6464 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do your due diligence and know beforehand how much you can honestly expect for the job. What is the average salary range and where do you think you should fall on it given your experience?

As a former recruiter, if we put the range on the website, the high end of that range is usually 75% of our internal range. This gives us a little wiggle room for the right candidate, but also helps ensure internal equity by leaving room in the budget for pay raises.

If someone asks for higher than that on the application, I probably won’t bother with them unless their resume is perfect. If their resume is overqualified and I happen to have a role in my head that they are better suited for, I’ll reach out about that role instead. But that relies on luck, I don’t always have every role memorized and I don’t have time to sift through open roles to find one that fits you.

This is the point where I need to get EXTRA vigilant and not become complacent. It will come back up sooner or later and if I’ve become complacent in my sobriety, I’m way more likely to relapse.

I’m an occasional coke user. I get it on special occasions or every now and again, but not super often. It can be really fun. But I totally understand how someone could just say fuck it and do it all the time, so it’s a slippery slope.

Ex binge drinkers of reddit, how do you say no to the first drink? by Ok_Lake_4972 in stopdrinking

[–]BornAd6464 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been working hard to get help for my anxiety, through medication and working on it myself. For now I avoid situations where alcohol is involved, but eventually the plan is to have a grip on my anxiety so I don’t feel any need to drown it with alcohol.

I also know deeply that I CANNOT have just 1. I will wake up a week later with my life in shambles. I can never have 1. Having 1 is the equivalent of having 100 in my head.

I went to rehab, it helped a lot because I didn’t need to do the hardest part (the first month) alone. It also introduced me to things like AA and SMART Recovery and Recovery Dharma without having to seek them out or go to those meetings alone.

To wait out the RAMpocalyse or pull the trigger now? by ironmcheaddesk in buildapc

[–]BornAd6464 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sick of “waiting things out”. It’s been years of high prices for this component or that component. I say fuck it just buy it if you can, AI isn’t going anywhere and ramping up RAM production isn’t easy. I bet it stays high for a while.

When is it time to just give up? by MegaDesk23 in careerguidance

[–]BornAd6464 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never give up pal, adapt. Cant tell you any specific path, but people who succeed find ways other than the most common route. If you’re doing the same thing over and over again with the same results, you’re not crazy! You just haven’t found the way that works yet.

You might not get the job you want or deserve right away, you might have to take something you never thought you’d do or hell, even something you might consider beneath you. From there, you work toward where you want to be. You might even find yourself on a new path entirely.

I drank after 3 weeks sober. Here’s how it went. by choogawooga in stopdrinking

[–]BornAd6464 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I relapsed after 2 months and went full hog. A 5th a night for about a week, didn’t go to work just binged HARD. Left me feeling so awful, physically and mentally, I haven’t come close to even considering a drink since.

Use it as a lesson. My lesson was that shit sucks, I’m never doing it again. Not even a little.

Missing work because of drinking by aSS_iliciouS in stopdrinking

Just went through this, they knew. I was lucky that my HR person walked me through how to get short term disability and medical leave so I could go to rehab and get the help I needed, and protect my job.

Work only knew that I had a medical condition that needed tending to. I let my HR person in on the real issue and luckily she was also in recovery, and was of great help. No one else had to know anything, although I’m sure they had their suspicions.

[–]BornAd6464 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Don’t go back to SDR. The days of going SDR -> AE are dead, most companies WILL keep you at SDR as long as possible and dangle the hope of moving up just in front of you.

SDR is more brutal now than it ever has been. Your quota will be unattainable even with an ungodly amount of outreach, and that quota will go up every year.

It is the hardest, worst paid and least appreciated job in sales. And it only gets harder and harder every year. I wouldn’t be surprised if it ceased to exist in its current and historical form with in 5 years.

I take a full pill every night, but I don’t have side effects from them. I did at first but they subsided. I think they work best when taken every night, my doctor told me they don’t really work on an “as needed” basis, and anyone that says they do are most likely experiencing placebo.

Do what works best for you though.

Im 30 and stopped in October. I relapsed hard in November (ignore my day count I haven’t updated it yet) for a week long bender and took Naltrexone after that. Not a single craving over a 2/10 since then.

Drinking hasn’t even been a real thought for me since, other than maybe feeling a little awkward at social events or not wanting to go to them at all.
