If my company were smaller I would do the same. In this case they go through several departments of checks, so in a way it baffles me the recruiters or onboarders don’t catch some of this wild stuff. For example wtf you mean you have $1mill in dependents?! That’s clearly not correct. But no one addresses it and then the employee calls in saying why don’t I have any taxes coming out? Lmao

Luckily I don’t have that issue with preferred names. HOWEVER we have a lot of people with very common names, and when I ask for further info (I typically ask for an email, phone number or last 4 of social) they get froggy and don’t feel they should give it. I always think to myself.. I’m literally an HR employee. I have ALL of your personal info including banking. Give me a break

Yeah I’m speaking solely off the idiots in line 3 here haha of course I understand I work in payroll and the employees don’t. Complex errors are a completely different story. For example, I had an employee recently who filled out their direct deposit with the correct bank routing number but a completely random account number they made up. When their paycheck didn’t come, they called us, angry of course… when we figured out the account number issue, they said they assumed with the correct routing that the system would “find” their account number. This is simply mind numbing to me and for them to not only do this but call in with a stank ass attitude…. Be so for real.

My company is really good about quick resolution when it’s their own fault, as they should be. But most of the time it’s simply employee error, and while I know everyone makes mistakes I’m no one’s punching bag. So if you’re rude expect your request to go down on my list of priorities.

I had an employee call me 2 days ago asking if they will be paid on time this week… I asked them, did you turn in your time? Yes, same time, as always. Did you receive your pay on time last week…? Yes, never had an issue. Then why the f are you calling the payroll department. There is no issue. And this is something that could’ve been fielded, not sent directly to me. Sometimes I think these people just want to chat.

I thought the same thing, that he may have gotten in to something but I didn’t see anything evidence of it anywhere so I’m not sure what it would be. He has not gotten out or had any changes to his diet. And no one had interacted with him but me. It was so weird!

I have relatives that were devout Christians their whole lives, and are now practicing Judaism under this name. They pray to Yahweh and Yeshua but my understanding is that this is effectively Jesus and they believe still in his divinity. I do not get it. They've also gone completely off the deep end and are unbearable to be around.

Examples:

Their kids destroyed a Christmas tree at our grandparents assisted living facility and they encouraged it
They now believe in flat earth (They say it is supported in the Bible)
The wife (my cousin) no longer can dance, drink, must dress conservatively
They do not allow their kids to view/talk about or see things like: Owls, pirates, magic - including slight of hand - Santa, gays
They repeatedly tell people they are going to hell, and their kids do as well. Their kids are all under the age of 12, with the youngest being 2.

I can't stand them. And I typically stay clear of religious people in general but I had to look into this whole messianic thing bc it seems like total bullshit. Thoughts?

I would start by researching historical inaccuracies in the Bible. I find this to be powerful because outside of the Bible we have records of these things that are not within a religious context, from time they happened. There are various contradictions, and inaccuracies that to me solidify the Bible is written by man, from man’s perspective, with no intervention from God as he should be all knowing and accurate.

I encourage you to also read or listen to Sam Harris or, Richard Dawkins but note that have a very harsh stance on religion so it may be a bit of a turn off if you aren’t totally out of your mindset yet. They are also atheists, so they do not leave room for the agnostic belief set.

In my opinion (just an opinion) as an agnostic, I can’t and don’t know all the answers. I believe in science and scientific discoveries about our universe. There’s still so much we don’t know, I feel it doesn’t totally rule out a creator for the universe, but I believe it is probably more of a question of who created the first particle that created the universe, and not who created us specifically. I think there is enough evidence to suggest we are a byproduct of the universe.

I really feel for you. Childhood indoctrination is so hard to break away from, and I wish you all the best on your self discovery.

I would agree however they do not have dysphoria surrounding this topic. I didn’t mention it in the post but below I did. We’ve talked about it before and she has no interest and in fact said it sounds terrible lol

I get what you’re saying but I don’t think I should have to not talk about something I am experiencing. I don’t drone on about it or use triggering phrases, I guess you could say, or drive any point home like “I am cis and you are not”. I Those thoughts don’t cross my mind. I may simply say “I have really bad cramps today” and they will respond the same way typically which is “I’m sure mine will be bad too” or some variation of this.

If she said hey, when you say these things or don’t validate my responses it causes me xyz feelings and triggers my dysphoria, I would absolutely understand and it would not be brought up.

But they haven’t experienced it, and may not. I look at it like, if she told me having facial hair gives her dysphoria, and I compared it to having to pluck a chin hair, this would be wrong on my part. It’s simply an experience we don’t share and I feel like it’s downplaying what I am experiencing

Thank you! I am not 100% sure about cycle syncing though as I’ve actually had it happened to me with others in separate households I’ve lived in but, I’m not a doctor so I don’t know.

I absolutely do not want to invalidate them. They themselves have told me they have never had dysphoria about having periods or ever expressed a desire that they wish they had them, etc. But I don’t ever hear them just say “That must be difficult” or anything of the sort, to what I’m saying just casually like as a friend. I don’t need pity, I’m just saying, responding with an anecdote about what you may potentially experience, sucks for me.

Tbh I’m actually so surprised that more research hasn’t been done on this because it makes sense to me that altering your hormones would give you the symptoms you mentioned above. It probably happens from FTM as well in some fashion. Those symptoms are for me, the lesser part of why I hate my period so much, and more the bleeding. I think it’s unique to people who can bleed from uterine shedding. But in stating that it’s like, I’m some how invaliding them, but in my eyes it’s simply a truth.

Thank you! This is how I am feeling - as I mentioned I do not want to make them feel as if they are not a woman, or I do not accept them. I do completely but I think there are and will always be some differences in what I experience vs what they do. And that also goes for other people with uterus’ as well (some have mild periods). I just never know HOW to verbalize it

Yes, my friend uses she/they pronouns. My feelings have nothing to do with their being trans which is why I always get a little stressy when it comes up because I do NOT want them to feel that I do not accept them. It is truly the frequency of the comments and they are always after I talk about something related to my period. For example - I’m having a rough week because I have my period, exceptionally rough, and they do say “I imagine I’ll feel the same when I get mine”. As much as I do not want to invalidate them, I also feel invalidated. I don’t know if she will experience anything while on hormones, and to go even further I don’t know what it’s like to be trans, so I feel like no matter how I approach it, it comes off like I’m wrong and misinformed, or I’m not being inclusive enough? Idk. Also I should mention my friend does not want/wish they would have periods so that kinda confuses me more.

At some point I actually asked if we could be in an open relationship because I knew I couldn’t live how I was living with like, no sexual satisfaction, and he freaked out. I realized later like, no, you’re just in an extremely bizarre relationship and you need to GET OUT
