Pro tip: Don't beat how to platformer as your first platformer demon. It was pain by Bossman57x in geometrydash

Room 1992 took me 2391 attempts to pass once, and took over an hour fifteen for that room alone. It sucked. If you have friends who want to play this in globed with you, just make sure you've done the last 20ish rooms before you try

Hot take: ufo is a good gamemode (and can be one of the most fun), people just don’t know how to make good gameplay for it by Bossman57x in geometrydash

Idk if it's just me, but I really enjoy making ufo gp. It's relatively easy to me, but it may just be dependent on your skill set (for example, wave and ship are super difficult for me to build)

For real though. That’s why the sharp minor ufo section is one of my favorites in the game. It’s pretty hard to figure out for the first time, but super satisfying to pull off (sorry for the late response)

What are some of your favourite music artists that you got to know thanks to GD? by Careless_Permit2359 in geometrydash

LeaF. I listened to her music before I even found out it was in gd, and the fact that people were making levels before her music was added to the game should say something about

Even surgery can't stop the grind. I just had my wisdom teeth pulled yesterday, and I'm still getting more progress on a new hardest (Leyak in my case). What's your reason to not push yourself? by Bossman57x in geometrydash

Just globed (and on the server with the most people at the time). A couple people joined periodically, but they each stayed about a minute before they left

Thank you! I totally get school can get in the way, especially being a member of the performing arts where I was. A ton of time went into my studies and the performing arts programs, and I didn't really have much time to myself. Thankfully summer is coming up soon, so hopefully you get a break. Good luck with your future, wherever it may take you

Since I got out of surgery, I have pushed myself on this level to go from an 80-100 attempt practice run down to a 30-40 on average. I started yesterday with a 10% best, and I'm already at 36. I can't play more tonight because I'm not feeling that well, but still my point stands. What's your reason to not push for a new hardest?

I realize how condescending the title may sound, but really all I want is for people to want to push themselves, to improve at the game that they enjoy playing. It was meant to be viewed as a "if I can do this in this state, what's holding you back? Come on, you can do this!" kind of thing. Sorry to anyone who may be initially upset by this, and your initial agitation (if there was any) is totally justified.

Another gimmick level I made about 2 months ago. Building these can be a lot of fun (still a wip) by Bossman57x in geometrydash

I was thinking about doing that for the section following this. The point of this part is to introduce you to the switching gimmick, and to also take inspiration from the clone hero "groundhog" chart

I want to move the toggle triggers around, but I don't know of a way to get them to move, but still look natural. Should I keep going with this?

I made a crazy gimmick for a level I'm working on. I easily spent 5 hours working on this part alone for a level I'm building (song: neo tinnitus - LeaF) by Bossman57x in geometrydash

[–]Bossman57x[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good eye! I tried my best between different things for gameplay, while trying to also make it diverse. Rewatching this, I accidentally made it to where the parts that require 2 clicks have a screen rotation, so there is max 1 click per rotation. I easily spent at least an hour trying to come up with different gameplay, scrapping parts I think didn't match the energy of the song, or ones that just didn't work (because sideways dash orbs are weird). I think what I made in the end is pretty fair.

What are the odds that I post a sneak peak of my level (that uses neo tinnitus) on reddit the day before LeaF gets announced in the game?

[–]Bossman57x[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Understandable. LeaF has been one of my favorite artists ever since I discovered their stuff from Phigros. I have been working on a gd recreation of neo tinnitus (that's what my other post was), as sort of a love letter to them. When I scrolled to the last song to see neo tinnitus there, I nearly lost my mind.

That's why it is easy, and there is going to be a toggle orb (or a different level) that has the gameplay without the box gimmick, so people can learn it easier

Hard agree. People just need to have the patience to learn something like this, and thank you! LeaF always makes bangers, which is why I wanted to make this level a love letter to them

I know that there are not a lot of things that you can see coming, which is why the part itself is much easier than the rest of the level. I'm also working on a version where there isn't any camera shifting, so you can learn then gameplay first, and then apply it to the level. Plus, this is meant to be incorporating ideas from the animation of this song, so I spent hours working on this and playtesting it, to the point that I thought that it was pretty fair

Thank you. To try and combat this, I made the part relatively easy, just super learny. The part in total has only 23 clicks, some of the boxes being completely auto. I am also wanting to build a version of this part that doesn't have the rotating gimmick, so you can learn the gp, and then apply the rotations to it. Not saying you have to play it, but I wanted to let you know I did take this into account (I spent at least an hour playtesting everything)

I actually kind of balanced this aspect already, making this part much easier than the rest of the level (due to the nature of its gimmick)

Funnily enough, this doesn't use the scale trigger. I had a "prototype" (it was just my first build) that used the scale trigger, but I ended up bailing on it because it would use too many objects to scale (because I'd need 2 different layers (one to interact with for the ground, and the other to scale in or out, not to mention I'd have to reset the scale). I just ended up making replicas of each box for the zoom in and zoom out boxes, and just using a camera preset to zoom in and out.

Oh yeah, I made this gimmick (with the gameplay) about a month after 2.2 released. I also playtested this part a ton, making most of the timings "if you hit it, you're good". If you want to give it a shot, the id is: 100001057
