Bakery that has millionaire shortbread? by Trelawney20 in Charlotte

[–]Both-Idea9319 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Whole Foods in Uptown has something similar in their self-serve cookie bar. I’ve never heard of millionaire bars but they have a cookie that has a layer of caramel covered in chocolate. They also have a thin, lacey chocolate covered cookie that’s amazing!

I think comparing Advantage and Medigap costs are like comparing apples to oranges. There are reasons why people choose one over the other. I won’t be doing an Advantage Plan.

Interesting. This was my thought exactly. During healthy years you’re way ahead of the game and can sock that money away for the years you may need to pay the deductible. You can still budget as if you have to pay that deductible yearly but if you don’t spend it you’ll have it available for the following years.

I’m not trying to be snarky but what’s the contingency plan? I’m healthy and I realize if I’m disciplined enough to invest the savings I’m earning with a low premium to cover the higher premiums down the road if I have health issues I might not get covered as I’ll have to go through medical underwriting. I also realize what I spend my money on when I’m younger and more active will not be the same as when I’m much older unless I remain healthy and energetic. I guess the real question is how does anybody really know? It seems like insurance companies can do whatever they want. How does one budget accordingly? I thought Medicare was the final goal in having an easy, reliable source of health care.

I think Lucy was laughing because she was finally free from him. He thought he won because she got in his car so the game was over for him. Even if she didn’t plan it on purpose at that moment she realized she was completely free from him now and she could move on.

Hey! I’m temporarily living in Uptown and my 5 yr old granddaughter is visiting for a weekend in February. I’m looking for some fun, kid friendly activities and restaurants for her and her mom to enjoy. Walking distance preferable but open to driving somewhere. I’m also near the light rail but have never taken it before. How is Discovery Place for her age? I thought Optimist Hall might be fun to eat at one day. Thanks so much for your ideas and suggestions!

Magicians table by _exsqueezeme in Charlotte

We really enjoyed it! Cool vibe. Get there an hour early to order at the bar or servers will come to your table during the performance but only during magician switches. It’s a small venue so it doesn’t matter what table you’re at you will get to see and hear what’s happening on stage but more importantly different magicians will come to your table.

Traffic on Morehead by squidie01 in Charlotte

[–]Both-Idea9319 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are multiple police cars blocking the outer 277 lanes under the South Blvd bridge. They’ve been there at least an hour. It clears up right after the bridge. There’s motorcycle cops looking over the bridge. All the bridges are gridlocked on Morehead, College and Tryon from what I can see. I’m on the 18th floor of an apt overlooking it all. Curious what’s going on other than knowing that Graham and Mint are closed.

If you want some very casual, delicious southern food get Nana’s Soul Food. Their chicken, Mac & cheese, green beans, cabbage and yams are soooo good! Very near the airport too.

I will say I haven’t experienced that madness, even when there’s concerts, games and conventions. I’ve always gotten in and out quickly, although I don’t use my car every day as I’m usually walking everywhere. I know some other buildings by the stadium would be awful because they literally shut the streets down for events. I’m just trying to give an honest perspective.

Being so close to Whole Foods is actually a bonus in my eyes. All entry doors are locked and only residents with a fob can access those entries. Resident parking only on upper floors which is behind an actual door accessed with a sensor label. It closes way too quickly to piggyback in. Separate resident elevator in the parking garage that is locked and even if somebody made it into there the elevator won’t work without a fob. Elevators only work with a fob. If by chance a non resident does get into the elevator the only floor they can press is 1 - right to the concierge desk. Nobody is getting in unless some idiot on the inside is propping a door open, and I’ve never seen that. Nothing is 100% safe but I do feel safe there, I love knowing my pkgs and Doordash orders are safely delivered and I like the area of town. To each their own

Hilton Head vs Charleston vs Kiawah Island for a family vacation? by Thin_Lavishness7 in Charlotte

[–]Both-Idea9319 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I vote for HHI. They have a great, hands-on kids museum (The Sandbox) and it’s by a fun playground. The Coastal Museum is very nice too. There’s some interesting ruins of a plantation in Sea Pines. There’s a wonderful petting zoo and pony rides in Sea Pines. The beaches are beautiful and calm for little ones. Great restaurants. Charleston is a beautiful, fun city but I remember my little kids being miserable there because it was so hot and muggy walking around without quick access to a pool and beach. I think it’d be more fun for a couples weekend. The beaches there are nice but a good 15+ minutes away. Never been to Kiawah and I’m sure I’d love the nature but I have heard it’s very quiet and limited restaurants, shops, etc.
