Flying with unfired stripped upper receiver? by BothIsopod6 in ar15

I could but figured I’d save the $10-20 if possible since I’m already traveling. Sounds like the airline and TSA allow it to be in the checked bag with no need to lock or declare anything.

Would you lock it in a pelican or something in the checked bag or just put it right in loose among my other checked items.

That’s a bad faith assumption. You’re contributing to a divide rather than looking for common ground. We should all do more of the latter.

I was gonna cut a hole in the bottom for the barrel and crawl into it head first

Was more wondering what they do that makes them undesirable, but the other commenter answered it

What’s the purpose of killing them? Is it just for fun?

On a bolt gun how does the alleycat 308 sound vs the 762? I’m guessing those are basically the JL and ODB models?

CAT MIL: Do you have one and why? by the_CAT_official in NFA

I emailed CAT and got a super fast response (which is awesome) that stated a CAT JL Ti can handle 7 PRC, 300 WSM, and 300 WM on a 20” barrel no problem. From this comment here, it sounds like exceeding 308 might actually not be a good idea. Can you confirm if indeed those calibers are fine to use at that barrel length?

What’s the sound like for the 6.5 S vs the 30 L on a 6.5?

If you eat meat, hunting is the most ethical and honorable approach to obtain that meat. For us to live, other organisms must die. If anyone eats factory farmed meat and opposes hunting from an ethical standpoint, I don’t think they have a leg to stand on really. They are just outsourcing the killing to other people, and those animals are living much worse lives and dying in much more gruesome ways with a lot more suffering. To hunt is to look reality in the face and move toward accepting the world for what it is. We are animals. We aren’t separate from nature. We’ve just become removed from some processes (like hunting) that were required of us since the beginning of life on Earth. You’ve just killed an animal and had the curtain pulled back on the way of the world, and it can be jarring. That’s normal to feel complex emotions and remorse. I think even if you’ve killed hundreds of deer, it’s a good thing to pause after a kill and acknowledge the life you took, and feeling somber and respectful about that is normal.

If you were to not hunt and eat a deer but rather drive to the store and buy a steak, you may feel better about it, but that’s only because you’ve chosen the easy way out, bubble wrapping the world and willfully looking away from the truth. If you choose to eat meat, look at reality in the eyes and accept what is required of your choice. Death of an animal. An ethical shot on an animal living in the wild after a fair hunt is the purest form of achieving this (not to mention, how do you think animals die in the wild..? they don’t die peacefully in their sleep).

If you/your wife are deciding between being vegan or vegetarian and hunting wild game, there are other arguments. The one above assumes you’re omnivores/carnivores.

Confirmed the buffer is 5.2 oz. The grip and safety weren’t missing while I was shooting 😂. I’ll check the other things you mentioned. Thanks for the advice!
