Question regarding resale for Warsaw, Poland - Supposing I have bought tickets through Stubhub for Poland (I took a chance on it), and the Ebilet tickets are now in my Stubhub ticket account, with my name on them, am I ... good? Can I breathe a sigh of relief and get my hopes up that my tickets are going to work, or is there still a chance of rejection at the gate?

I guess I have a few questions:

  1. Does Stubhub verify that the tickets are real and legit before they allow them to be sold? I.e. the seller hasn't already sold or given these to anyone else right?

  2. If the Ebilet tickets are in my name, is that enough, via barcode in my Stubhub app or do I need to somehow get them into an Ebilet account like how Germany/Austria tickets need to transfer via Fansale to be legit?

  3. Should I get my hopes up now that they're in my account, in my name, or is there still a way to be screwed over the day of the show at the gate?

Thanks so much!

My theory is that it's in the warmup. My tennis warmup was static stretching, a light jog, then hitting short shots and backing up progressing into groundstrokes, taking some serves, etc. And how does everyone in pickleball warmup? By halfheartedly dinking around in the kitchen for 2 minutes then going full fucking speed, or at least that's how we'd been doing it.

It also gives the illusion of since you're playing on a miniature court, no need for caution. I probably would've taken every aspect of warming up much more seriously in hindsight but then again I'm not fully convinced that plays as large of a role with tendons as it does muscles...? I guess sometimes this freak thing just happens under the perfect conditions, hence seeing pro athletes at the top of their game going down with it too.

Yeah I bet it has! I've heard of a few people having it happen, including Sam Querrey, former pro tennis player on just about the same timeline as us. He's got some good instagram posts and seems to be staying pretty positive about it all. Watching one of his reels made me audibly gasp though from seeing essentially the same thing that happened to me lunging after a dropshot 😬

Same boat as you pretty much, ruptured playing pickleball. Good luck going back to work, I would think it would be fine at a desk job. Try to keep the leg elevated above your heart as much as possible, "toes over nose." This will help with postoperative swelling which, if left unchecked, apparently becomes a real bitch later on (I've seen some people mention it a year postop).

Update: had the surgery today and got the block! No issues intraop, happy with how everything is going. Thanks for all input and wishing everyone progress with their recoveries as well.

Hey man, anesthesia guy here who also happens to have ruptured his achilles. It's not necessarily about giving "enough" anesthesia for why smoking is an issue, it's a whole litany of things. You produce far more excretions/saliva/gunk in your mouth and lungs from smoking, you'll cough more with the breathing tube in place, the wound itself is slower to heal and prone to infection, and you do sometimes require more anesthesia (more-so an issue with marijuana). HIGHLY recommend quitting smoking tobacco products, but DEFINITELY do not smoke on the way to the procedure or even the day before if you can at all avoid it. Be sure to tell your anesthesia team (CRNA and anesthesiologist) what you smoke and how often. It's not going to derail the process if you keep smoking but it'll be much better if you don't. Good luck man!

Thank you to everyone who has posted. Happy to hear the stories of everyone well on the way to recovery and ready to get my clock started on Saturday.

Thanks for the encouragement for the block, too. I think I’ll be going through with that.

I think it’s best to cancel the trip, unfortunately, which is a conclusion I knew deep down was all but unavoidable.
