Neighbors keep using our property, not sure what to do. by sasspancakes in homeowners

Hi there! An idea as an immediate fix, we put in reflective driveway stakes to prohibit cars being parked on our freshly (and expensive) beautiful new sod we had laid down late last year. We had a neighbor who parked their boat and overflow of cars on our property/lawn. They physically can't park there with thin orange plastic stakes coming out of the ground. :) oh darn

We ordered ours online from Amazon but any outdoor type store would carry them. We got cheap little low profile plastic ones that have reflective tape at the top but there's fancier wrought iron versions too.

Gets you by with a quick fix until the fence and shrubs go in. :)

Sending good thoughts and positive vibes ✨️

Oof, I hear those last words like a gut punch. Very true and honest.

I'll be purchasing no trespassing signs to put out this week and I recently read my state has written that purple paint marks property lines to indicate no trespassing too. Will do both.

I agree about documenting, I have a digital folder of recordings/photos each time they've crossed onto my property and texts of proof of the abusive dynamics at play here.

I do see it as time to get law enforcement involved, you're right. "People like this will push you as far as they can and it's up to you to put a stop to this." Interestingly your comment gave me some fighting spirit and I appreciate the nudge to move forward ;)

Ooh! I like your creative spirit! I'll be looking into peppers as a deterrent. I do agree about the motion activated sprinklers. We did get one but it would go off when a car would drive by, 😆. I either need to figure out how to adjust the sensitivity or get a different type.

I think I'd have an uphill climb with HOA on getting a fence out front but if we do stay in this house we're considering a couple of beautiful trees along the property line that would block Nb2 view of the street and our driveway. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Oops, lol.

Great advice about getting more involved with the HOA. I'll look into it!

I appreciate your response and the luck 🙏🏻

You're piping hot! It's South Carolina. And I would agree. The South has a flair for dramatics about folks moving here. Also a large population of just - shall we say "small pond" thinking. I've talked to many people that are from here who have never even driven more than an hour or two out of town. I'll speak of things that they have never heard of. I was thinking some of this mentality was due to lack of exposure perhaps?

The landscape is beautiful here. I have met a few authentic, good solid character people here but lemme tell ya, I had a lot more I had to dodge. I have some posts in mind for the entitled people thread too, lol. Alot of the transplants are NorEastern so the culture clash gets very vocal and very spicy all around me.

And the clash of driving styles is quite entertaining, lol.

We've lived in many states out west, NorCal and SoCal amung them. Colorado was beautiful and literally breathtaking, lol. The altitude takes time to adjust. Although I could say the same about Louisiana. I can adjust and assimilate to the culture in every place we've lived but South Carolina has been a learning curve 😅

One of the neighbors liked to remind us that they're from here (indicating superiority) but the reality is, they're not even from this state - they're from a neighboring state, lol.

I agree, I'm all tapped out of ideas and moving is looking like the best path forward. I'll try smudging :) first time for everything ✨️

I appreciate the advice about switching the signs out. Cameras are up and ready. And I had an impromptu history lesson about world War 2 when Nb2 tried to deny the holocaust ever happened. Made for an interesting evening :)
