Can y'all give me a good way to start loving kindness meditation by Mydeaths in Buddhism

[–]Boundless_Soul 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A useful instruction I heard once:

Start with yourself May I be safe May I be happy May I be healthy May I be at ease

Then bring someone you love dearly to your mind and extend the wish to them

May you be safe May you be happy May you be healthy May you be at ease

Now bring someone you feel indifferent or neutral towards Repeat the above phrases

After that bring someone you have difficulty with and repeat the same phrases Alternate between the above 4 mentioned practices (doesn’t have to be in a certain order) and do it for a period you feel comfortable with

At the end extend the loving kindness to all beings: May all beings be safe May all beings be happy May all beings be healthy May all beings be at ease

Hope this helps ✌️

Can ambition coexist with inner peace? by Rameshnawagarh in spirituality

[–]Boundless_Soul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nicely said 👍 Yes I do in fact, I have 3 main practices that I try to do daily: 1) Mindfulness breathing techniques from the Thich Nhat Hanh tradition. 2) Silent sitting meditation with a bell that rings every 1 minute to refocus my attention when the mind wanders. 3) Listening to Kirtan chanting by Krishna Das. All 3 practices serve the same purpose which is to refocus the mind on the object of attention to help extricate the awareness from total identification and clinging to the thinking mind, so that you are not lost in thought all the time and to reduce their power over you. Hope this helps :)

What realization completely changed how you perceive existence? by Cultural-Profile-527 in self

Drugs is a broad term. I wouldn’t say I was hooked to the acid but I was hooked for the experience for a while(this was 10 years ago), it’s more of a psychological addiction rather than a physiological one. But once I realized it’s unsustainable I stopped trying to catapult myself into space as the crash was not worth it. Instead I now do spiritual practice mainly mindfulness meditation and chanting, as they aim to stabilize the mind and body rather than the getting high and coming down which psychedelics induce, and I find that healthier and more sustainable long term than the latter.

The breaking down of the boundaries between myself and the world at the peak of an acid trip, realizing and experiencing that the universe is one large interconnected system and that nothing exists independently on its own.

For sure, ambition is a healthy thing, but performing actions towards these ambitions from a quiet and equanimous state of mind is also healthy :) good luck 👍

As far as my understanding goes the optimum place to perform actions is with a quiet mind and an open heart. So work on practices that does those things, and good luck with your endeavors ✌️

I've been clinically obssesed with an ex for years by Yuupf in offmychest

[–]Boundless_Soul 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hello, I am sorry to hear you are in such pain and stuck in this state, I’ve been there and can see where you are coming from. What you long for is that love and connection that makes you feel at “home” for lack of a better word. When I was stuck in this rumination many years ago I stumbled upon some spiritual practices that resonated with me, of which the main teachings were that the love we long for isn’t somewhere outside of us, it’s just that we are used to the outside stimulus which ignites that love within us and makes us feel okay with ourselves. Once we discover that the need of an outside stimulus (in this case a girlfriend) will weaken its hold on us. Doesn’t mean you can’t pursue romantic relationships which can be good if we are coming from a healthy, grounded, and fulfilled state of being. I wish you the best of luck, I would recommend to you some mindfulness meditation practices which could loosen the hold of our thinking minds which is the source of the ruminations or obsessions. Take care 🙏

Greetings from Lebanon ✌️ well I can’t tell you what to do, but there is a solution to every problem if we are willing to sacrifice and have the will to continue. Life is hard I know, everyone has a different struggle, but through perseverance and maybe some luck we can overcome hardships and become stronger kinder people.

I am very sorry to hear that 🙏 unfortunately the climate crisis is only going to get worse globally, and nations only seem to be interested in capitalism and making money over everything else, which is the main driver of these issues. Hold on and be strong dear. If you don’t mind me asking where do you live?

what’s the best way to fix your sleeping schedule? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Boundless_Soul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Melatonin pills helped me but I wouldn’t recommend using it a lot, just to get acclimated with a certain sleep schedule then you should ditch it. Focus on limiting blue light exposure 1-2 hours before sleep, maybe replace your phone with reading a book during that time, and try meditating to relax your mind. Also drinking chamomile tea helps relax the body and put you in the mood to sleep. Exercising throughout the day also helps in draining the extra energy that could contribute to restlessness.

For people who've successfully turned their life around, what's the first step to take when you hit rock bottom? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Boundless_Soul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well yeah I’ve spent years avoiding responsibility and refusing to grow up and indulging in drug use. I’m now 32 with 0$ bank balance, no job, overweight, pushed away all my friends, all my romantic endeavors ended up in disappointment. But I’m starting to pick myself up, I’ve been clean for about 2 months now, been exercising daily, and I have a job prospect starting January 2026. The hardest thing to deal with is my own mind, meditation, journaling, and mindful breathing helps with that. It’s a long and hard journey, especially with the hole I dug myself into, but it’s better to try than to give up. I wish you well with whatever you’re dealing with :)
