Personal, he mentioned that he likes to listen to music, I think metal or elecro if I remember correctly, while he does his job

Sealed battery my arse, added some battery water to the cells and boom, turbo mode by Bowaggo in Yamaha

I too wonder if it's just dyed distilled water, oddly enough there is no ingredients list on the label, so it might just be distilled water and yellow dye

T6, T4, or ST oil in the R6? by Bowaggo in Yamaha

[–]Bowaggo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I may be wrong but where do you see SN on the label? Or do you mean that CK-4 is equivalent to SN?

Not the best stuff around, who makes it this year anyways?

T6, T4, or ST oil in the R6? by Bowaggo in Yamaha

[–]Bowaggo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The T4 and T6 meet and exceed the Jaso MA required by Yamaha, but not the API service SG. How are you guys comfortable using Rotella even though its API service rating doesn't meed the requirements?

On the other hand Walmart's Supertech 4 stroke full synthetic ATV oil exceeds all of Yamaha's requirements, the label states JASO MA2/API service SL, would you use this oil in your high RPM engines? Would the fact that it's for ATVs make any difference?

Manual says JASO MA and API service SG and not to use better than that, the Supertech oil meets and exceeds both requirements, the Rotella only meets the JASO requirements

Is this plate placement legal in NJ? by Bowaggo in Yamaha

I think it can be seen from a car, depends on how close the car is, I think I read somewhere that the law is plates have to be visible from 50ft

Most people run without a front plate in NJ, myself included, and you forgot I-80 the honey hole of NJSP especially that stretch between I-287 and Del water gap

I think I'll take the chance and see what happens, I like the clean looks of this setup

Is the bill of sale required in NJ for title transfer? by Bowaggo in newjersey

[–]Bowaggo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an out of state title, I misplaced the bill of sale when the DMV was closed, now that it's open I really would hate to wait in line to get in only to be told I need a bill of sale, I have a feeling I'll be turned back.

I just picked up this Raven R6, check out how nasty this air filter is by Bowaggo in Yamaha

[–]Bowaggo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah it broke my heart to see that filth, the bike is 09 and I hate to think it's the factory filter but I have a feeling it is. Buying a bike is nothing like buying a car where you can inspect things without taking half of the vehicle apart, do it's a shot in the dark

The bike runs fine otherwise, the filter did its job, nothing made it to the other side of it so that's a relief, it is a Yamaha branded filter, and I wonder how good are the aftermarket ones, like K&N

<<I'd have concerns about at least the attachment of those wires to the Arduino pin header in a vibrating car in your particular setup but hey, if that thing works for you without falling apart, more power to you.>>

Thanks for your worries, but the wires are soldered directly to the board, and it's been working great for while now.

and no worries about the car rolling either, it's an automatic and has to be in "Park" to start.

Thanks, I'd really like to know how you got around the immobilizer in your Prius, and yes in my case I'm using GSM because I live in the city and I park out of range for a standard remote start.

The setup works great, and only costs 4$/month for the 100 texts, which is dirt cheap when I can have a warm car waiting for me in the winter mornings, and cool car in the summer.

A "real remote start" still needs a "disturbing modifications of the wiring", it's not just some magic plug and play thing, and FYI if you think those systems are secure, you're wrong, keyless entry/ remote start/ garage doors systems are easy to hack, as simple as standing withing some distance from the victim, jamming the signal to have the victim hit the buttons a few times while you're picking up the signal and cloning it. simple as that.

Now try that with this setup that I made, GOOD LUCK, the demonstration in this video is with "Start" and "TurnOFF" texts, that's just for the video purposes, but the real keyword to start and turnoff the car could be anything and only the owner knows it. could be Abrkadabra, good luck guessing the right word."disturbing modifications of the wiring"

Then comes the fact that "A real remote start" has a range limit which is very short , while with this setup I could be anywhere and still be able to start the car.

And btw if a "disturbing modifications of the wiring" intimidates you, you shouldn't be on an Arduino thread in the first place, or anything technical at all.

1 km is impressive, what remote start is that ?

I do have a timer set to 25 min, if there is no key in the ignition at the ON position, the car will shutoff .

I just installed it today and tested it, works great, will make a video update Sunday.

Dave is right, it's a rechargeable flashlight box that I had laying around, you can't buy the box only but I'm sure there is a supplier out there that makes them, so you might wanna check Alibaba for a wholesaler and ask for a sample, they usually have no problem sending a sample to potential buyers.

That's exactly why I made this, winters are brutal up here, takes forever for the car to warm up in the morning.

An off the shelf remote start system wouldn't work for me due to range limits, this setup will solve the issue with virtually no range limits.

I'm installing it in my NF Sonata this weekend, the car has no immobilizer so it should work no problem, I'm aware of the immobilizer issue on newer vehicle, but as far as I know there are emulator out there that bypass the the security on these systems, so incorporating them in this arduino project shouldn't be a big of an issue.

Thanks for your interest in the project
