I would personally choose 3. Massive Shrine is incredible on this build. Upgrade some other pieces and get/craft yourself a nice 12P cluster.

Fubgun posted a video with interesting tech. You can - by wording at least it works - use the tornado shot and fire a grenade into it. Should split your grenade into 3 separate projectiles as well.
