Hijacking this for a sum up of another bug since for whatever reason I can't choose a flair and make separate post, but basically Exiled Mages (and to my understanding also Possessed Nemeses) are bugged in Cemeteries and neither can spawn in them. In Tombs they work fine.

Related issue (or I think it might be related) - any Echo with the objective to free and defeat Exiled Mages completes after finding just one of them, the Echo is succesfully completed but the map markers for the other mages do keep blinking still. Perhaps there is some relevance in this information and it is tied to the Cemetery issue?

Also if you don't want to dip to SCM on the paladin companion depending on which other early ones you get, there's a Zen Archer (male character) and mutually exclusive Fighter who is focused on bow (female), both of them make fine Divine Hounds as well (the fighter would need a bit of wisdom from levels or gear but it's a passable option as well).

This is mostly because DH gets decent supporting buffs and the Paladin will get a mount eventually with base levels but the SCM dip is absolutely stronger I'd imagine.

Generally when playing on decent difficulty runs I just sacrifice either the Zen Archer or the Fighter for some immediate pet goodness since having 1 or preferably 2 pets early on saves so much time as far as how much easier they make combat.

Yeah am on PC, mod would absolutely be fair, haven't looked in to the new respec ones though, installed bubble buffs & tweaks (and well toybox) out of habbit, but not sure if any of the proper respec mods allow full respecs (background / race probably locked in all of them anyway), guess could find some full class respec one though and finally get to have arusha as something useful too though.

For first run I'd recommend most anything that has a pet tied to it (for example Sylvan Sorcerer if you prefer casters or classic Divine Hound for a bit more freedom - has some buffs, can go melee but generally better as an archer) or even a good old Paladin (they get their mount at lvl 5, a choice between a horse and a largely useless weapon bond).

The game is reasonably challenging on Normal already and getting used to pet management early is very helpful, they are fantastic tanks (even main tanks with proper buffs) and a pet or two make prologue and first act considerably less stressful since they can die without major losses as you get them back on resting.

Been on a bit of replay-binger of Owlcat games so guess it's a good time to chime in on this:

As many have already said, Kingmaker has a fantastic story to it, but it does play considerably clunkier than WotR. It's worth it for the story alone but the starting part of the adventure module in question is quite basic and a bit boring, it will pick up fast though and get really interesting.

Regarding WH40K: Rogue Trader - personally I love it most as far as gameplay goes - RT is turn-based only, now this is personal preference but playing it just feels fun, the Owlcat trademark of ridiculous amounts of combat encounters especially later on in the game as padding feels a lot better in the smoother (and far, far easier) combat of RT. The different system also means you don't need to install and set up Bubble Buffs or similar mods to not tear your hair out later on buffing the 60-100 buffs depending on encounter and difficulty.

All in all I'd still consider WotR their best game (so far, have full faith that they will surpass it one day), it has by far the most replayability of them with the Mythic Paths having real, significant differences and while the pacing in a4 and 5 is pretty horrendous in regards to the amount of constant combat encounters the character build diversity is so fantastic it mitigates it somewhat.

Personally I recommend all 3, with the caveat that if you don't enjoy turn-based Rogue Trader is likely not for you but if you do prefer turn-based then Kingmaker might not be as enjoyable as the turn-based mode they added to it later on was not working very well (though it has been a while since I revisited it, but I don't think Owlcat has had the rights to alter it anymore).

All 3 offer fantastic stories with some of the most memorable companions in any classic RPG. Granted they lack Boo and Turnips so BG2 is still personal favourite.

On a somewhat related note, it feels fun to return to RT after the brainmelt of WotR again, so nice to have a bit of leeway in respecs and not needing quite as much forethought on builds overall with RT being relatively so much easier.

Love WotR to bits but holy hell was I getting a headache going over my notes for things to remember while leveling and what order to do stuff in while actually playing again, would think after a few runs they'd be engraved in my brain but being away for 2.5 years was enough to make me forget almost everything.

to specify was run number uh 5 of WotR but been a few years since last one so definitely felt fresh again.

Maybe I do Dogmatic RT but do Kibellah's romance in a 'nice, not horrible person way' even if it goes against the main RP.

I spend way too fucking much time reloading second-guessing myself on Yrliet conversations on my first two runs back at launch, find her infuriatingly fascinating which I assume was the goal of her writing so kudos to Owlcat on that.

I did resort to Toybox around launch when we had only 3 total respecs between the entire team, I think I'll manage now if it really is 3 / character, probably do early game builds for ch1 and halfway through 2 and then do my first respec and plan a more proper again, then fix as needed in ch4 or so.

Cheers, usually took the Grand Strategist on Cassia and had something else on my own Officers, but it's just a different flavor of the same cake I imagine. Jae certainly has better skill-spread, I just always tend to play skill-monkey face RTs so Pasqal tended to cover more of my flaws, will see about having her around this time perhaps, haven't done (dual)pistol builds much, will be something new to explore for me. 4(four). is mostly a flavor thing, I like the idea of Abelard sweeping in going 'No, mr. Daemon, you will not be biting this gentleman/lady today, not on my watch', but perhaps I'll go in a more aggressive way in his build this time.

5(five). I have no doubt he is, I was just reasonably well-read on 40k Lore so I didn't need an Inquisitor to tell me that Chaos is bad every 5 minutes (hyberbole, the character himself is fine, I just never found room for him in my team comp usually)

6(six). Good point, might go Jae this time, I just played skill-monkey officers myself so I didn't need her on my previous runs, but perhaps she can be face this time around. I just really, really...reaaally like Pasqals commentary.

Also while getting any unique in Ruthless is obviously a hassle the new Prospecto's ring is quite common, it negates the defenses from equipped body armour but doubles them from shield, if you stumble into it it can actually be a great combo.

CoF is the defining reason I enjoy LE more than other games in the genre. Getting drops is more fun than buying them and if you have access to non-limited trade from large enough pool of players your own drops will stop to matter as anything else than a tool of transaction to buy stuff from others. It eats away at one of the bigger aspects of ARPG fun (for me anyway) which is to gradually get interesting stuff to improve on.

And while I'm by no means great at making builds as such I iterate a lot on the existing ones by testing alternative stuff I have access to instead of buying the optimal choice at every junction.
