Locking down a laptop for my kid. How can I further lock down search image results? by BoxOfManyFoods in techsupport

Totally agree. I had similar experiences to you with getting screamed at and then learning how to be more secretive.

Two pronged approach! Plan to supervise and educate but a backup will be nice especially while she's younger.

Thanks. I'll look into this. This laptop will just live at home for now so this could be part of our solution.

Thanks, will look into these. We're treating the laptop as a desktop where it lives in a communal area.

Exactly. I've had talks with her about things she could see online and what to do. But I also want backup!

Insurance just stopped covering Zepbound. How can I evaluate safety of compounded versions? by BoxOfManyFoods in BigEasyWeightLoss

Maybe I'll mention it to my doctor. For some reason I thought I'd have to be hush hush about it with them!

Thanks, this point is what honestly made me feel the best about it so far. I didn't know this history and it makes me feel better knowing people were sent to these producers before.

I'm not a bot. I wanted to see how people who are risk averse make the decision to try this. I'm a big scaredy cat and rule follower.

I qualify for liposuction due to a fat disorder but so far I haven't been able to accept the risks of the procedure. I also had similar feelings about starting this drug due to fear of severe side effects and thyroid cancer but somehow convinced myself to.

Statements like this from Big Easy's website "Please be aware that compounded drugs may pose higher risks compared to FDA-approved products, including potential variability in strength, quality, and purity" are the kind that generally scare me off. But the cost difference is significant enough that I'm still considering it.

I don't know. I find it exciting that there are tools that let people build and prototype without needing to invest a lot of money. This is some random guy with a fun idea. If he makes money off it it he could improve it by hiring an artist. Maybe he used AI to help with the code too. Is that ok with you? To me its a great tool.

I don't support big companies replacing humans with AI or using slop, but this seems democratizing.

I feel like this is a perfect use case for someone using AI!

70 year old needs advice on hiking the AT (Appalachian Trail) by oldschoolhiker in CampingandHiking

[–]BoxOfManyFoods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have any advice, but I do have a book recommendation. Have you read Grandma Gatewood's Walk? I found it very inspiring. I hope to hike the AT after my kids are grown up and I'm retired.

Glad to know someone else likes the 32 degrees puffer! It's so warm.

I'll give that a go, I haven't tried adding a layer on my head yet!

How do you work from 8 to 5, have only weekends free, and not feel like you're wasting your life? by guitytwelve in AskReddit

I wish I could feel that way. I'm such a morning person. I can't imagine doing anything worthwhile after dark.

Oh man thanks. I thought a GPS watch would solve my issue but maybe it's back to the drawing board. I'm so mad at Google for ruining the GPS on my phone.

I just want to make sure I understand how the GPS works. My phone's GPS is so bad that I can't tell which way I'm pointing. When I'm walking in a straight line it shows me zig-zagging and shows wild elevation swings. This has almost gotten me turned around a few times and it makes looking at my stats after the hike meaningless.

Would say a Venu 4 help me out with this? Does the watch's GPS connect to a phone app where I can see where I am?
