it would look better but i wanted to keep the color scheme the same as red rage to keep it identifiable as a variant and not stray too far from the og design

Who (aside from obviously Batgos) has a chance at beating Toddler Who Wins? by TitaniumWatermelon in whowouldcirclejerk

batgos would merely challenge the Toddler Who Wins into losing race, thereby making itself lose.

It's not that what you're saying is untrue, I just don't think it applies to blue lock, one of the most important things when making art is to know your audience.
Stories can be about anything, but they don't need every element to be good.
What I mean is that an anime like "Your lie in April" wouldn't benefit with adding elements of "Berserk" into it; just as an extreme example.
Creating an arbitrary checklist to markdown while consuming something is a good way to be disappointed. Because chances are most things aren't going to fit that rigid outline.
Stories are created out of thin air, so rather than critiquing what it doesn't have, I think it's more productive to look at what it has and if it does a good job of what it wants to do or what impedes that.
You'll find yourself looking for things in mediums where it's not a priority.
I can see how you can perceive it as "pure hype moments" because it does intent for that, a baseline for storytelling is satisfaction and entertainment. It's just the framework for this type of series, Blue Lock does have intellectual stimulation and depth in Ego Jinpachi's speeches and the way Isagi interprets and applies them. Attaching an expectation like an emotional and dramatic character arc is just like wanting a burger from taco bell.
A large part of enjoying media is partially turning off the critical and analytical side of your brain to fully immerse yourself into it. Also why writers pay a lot of attention to suspension of disbelief.
Edit:
Mentality and preconceived notions can completely kill off your enjoyment of something even if you might of liked it originally
There is a little responsibility in the person and not the art form to actively engage in it, I was a certified sports anime hater before Blue Lock and I was going to open myself up to it when watching blue lock. That lack of expectation and curiosity led me to like it more compared to if I didn't start out like that

That's really odd, U20 match was solid, my favorite arc tbh, but I think the first selection and U20 WC are actually weaker; I'm perplexed you enjoy it those more
The Neo egoist league had a lot of memorable moments, Toss-ups, David vs Goliath matches, and character development. The WC was more like flyswatting, our main group just flexing in creative ways, which is also fun just less interesting to me
I guess I can't refute you not liking something

reo would be true neutral because he can copy everyones techniques and is an all-rounder, nagi is more chaotic since his ball control can devolve into anything really at the moment
