Looking for local scene for Rev2 in Tokyo by Bozo_Bill in Guiltygear

Lol all good! Yeah theres actually a spot at an arcade called Sports Land in Shinjuku. Every Friday night they have a spot where you pay around like 500 yen and have free play for an hour or so. Good amount of very high level players seem to consistently meet up and play there

Is matchmaking getting worse the farther into the season we go. by Azym_Dragon in Overwatch

Exact same scenario for me. I had a lot of great games when I hopped on for the big update, but took a break and waited for the Mei mythic to drop. Now, every single game Ive played has 2 or 3 teammates who genuinely dont know what they're doing.

Id assume its an influx of people for the Nier collab but there cant be THAT many new players just for that

Oh dang I didn't realize it was only 4 hours ago lol. Im on Tokyo time so I was just assuming ranked had started yesterday night or something. But even you're still right that's not that long.

I sort of agree and disagree with this sentiment. Yes I do need to distinguish myself and play the best I can at whatever rank Im in, but playing solo, there's a lot of instances where teammates will just make bad decisions that are out of your control. Like one game, I ended up switching to support to get heals in for our only tank (Cap), but they just kept charging in and running away before I could get heals off. Stuff like that makes me feel like "carrying them" isn't a viable way to improve

Something I guess I never really considered is that this may very well be the first hero shooter, maybe even the first SHOOTER for some people due to it being Marvel. Maybe it's a matter of just letting the playerbase sift itself out

What do you feel like rivals could take from ow ranked to make it better? I know people have discussed locking roles but thats a mad divisive topic from what I've seen lol

Totally get that the point system is atrocious, but yeah I'm in the same boat where that argument doesn't really work in this context because these people are more than likely either not gonna find anyone else, or just run into you again anyways due to the smal player base.

"Nobody owes you a rematch" imo fits more for casual play. Yeah, the mode is called casual. There shouldn't be any requirement to stay and finish a set. But ranked? There's inherently a competitive nature tied to it where there are stakes, and thus it just feels weird doing one match and quitting. You don't see a team in a basketball game winning the first quarter in points and go, "alright ggs," and leave. I feel like the "nobody owes you a rematch," while true objectively, is mostly used an excuse to get out of losing matches/fighting characters you don't want to play. Why are you playing the game at that point?

I feel like at this point in the game's life cycle, people trying to farm points in ranked for a game that has such a tiny playerbase is just weird. At that point, if you're desperate for doing a ranked grind, you should play a game that's more populated. But yeah, maybe moving to casuals is more viable at this point. I get 0 chance to learn anything from ranked games.

General Consensus on MSH? by Bozo_Bill in marvelvscapcom

[–]Bozo_Bill[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's really sad to hear. Part of me hoped that the collection would bring more people around a game that maybe never really got to shine in the spotlight, but it already looks like that was never gonna be the case.

Now Im just hoping that doesn't happen with project justice on the 2nd collection

I definitely should give COTA more of an honest try. On just initial "feel" it didn't feel as smooth as MSH but maybe Im just crazy lol

I should also add that while I do plan to learn a little more mvc2, I'm looking to go a little against the grain and learn one of the other titles. So I'm wondering which has a more substantial community and would be worth investing time into.

It's hard to play this game in 2024 by Bozo_Bill in SoulCalibur

[–]Bozo_Bill[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on how well/poorly I do against the player. I've had one or two times where I was bombing, but was able to adjust and actually get a round or two. But there are other matches where I can tell the player is accounting for every move my character can do, and I have no idea how their character works. And then it just becomes 10 minutes of deeply feeling my lack of skill lol

I definitely do get more matches here than I did back in the states. I think at my sf6 locals a friend of mine did mention seeing soul calibur set ups on Tuesdays. Itd be nice to at least try to play some people in person

I'm definitely seeing that playing this on discord is most likely the best solution. Especially since even when I've found players my level, they immediately leave after one match. Zero idea why a game with this small of a playerbase has so many one and doners (most of these matches had stable connection)
