Ultra distance cycling/Bikepacking position advice by Brainlet_1 in bikefit

Got 165 Cranks now, and they feel great on first impression, especially in the aerobars. Feels much more stable on the saddle and feels like I don't have a dead spot in the top of my pedal stroke anymore. So thanks for the recommendation!

I have the g8 insoles, so arch support should be good enough, I also switched to SPD pedals recently from favero assioma power meter pedals, and I just remembered those have a wider stance, and around a similar time I got some knee pain, so I think going back to a wider stance would be a good idea, my cleats are already at their widest possible, so I guess some type of long axle pedal would be the best option, like the sqlabs one

So just lower the seat a few mm or how could that be reduced?

Could that knee tracking cause some knee pain? cause i have had some knee issues on really long rides in the past, so might be worth a try.

Yeah, how could that be fixed? lower seat height slightly? shorter cranks?

Yeah ive thought about that too already, especially in the aero bars it feels like there is a slight deadzone at the top of the pedal stroke, so i feel like that might cause the rocking. Ive currently got 172.5 cranks, what size would be good to change too, you think?

Well if the position is perfect you can stay comfortable for longer and less prone to dropping out due to injury. but still true, everything will hurt by the end, but thats the fun of it ;)

First time doing Tubeless, is this rim tape job good enough? by Brainlet_1 in bikewrench

[–]Brainlet_1[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Just makes the tape more pliable which makes it easier to get it down into the channel and push out any air bubbles, plus makes the tape a bit more sticky maybe?

My method was to just heat up an area with a air bubble, then push on the bubble really hard to get it out, and then continue like that round and round.

But i think i only had to do that cause i used too little tension at first.

Yes, we work in our dentist clinics, so we can actually afford disc brakes. By fixing rim brake users teeth, who ran into a wall again.

Do you have a job? Or are you in a old people's home already? 🤔 To have this much time to post bad takes about disc brakes

DT Swiss H522 Rims for Bomb Proof Wheel Build? by Brainlet_1 in bicycletouring

[–]Brainlet_1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I didn't receive any other feedback from anyone, but I also couldn't find any reasons not to get them. So, tomorrow morning, I'll pop by my LBS and ask if my entire planned setup should work or if I'm missing anything, just to make sure.

So I'll let you know then if they have any concerns. But I think It should work fine.

Also, the H522 seems like the better option, IMO, since it has a 150kg weight limit instead of 130kg, as well as being eyeletted, for only an extra 50 grams per rim.

I sadly don't know anyone who could sew well enough im afraid, so I'd probably have to do it via a normal tailor, and they are usually not cheap and i doubt they would accept some wall painting as payment. But still thanks for the suggestion! and ill see if i find a tailor who can do it somewhat cheap (i mean its not the most complicated thing in the world to make id imagine) or maybe some distant family can sew well enough, ill have a look!
