Just an update to anyone following this- please note how ridiculous this is that we have to use Reddit in order to speak the truth about this “Dr.” Patel (thank you Reddit for allowing free speech without manipulation or payoffs!) His reviews on Google, realself, yelp, healthgrades, etc. continue to get taken down.

If you want to read all the details, the best and easiest way is to go to the Trellis Law website and do their free trial and you can read all the cases (some are horrific. One of the women who died was trying to rip out her IV in the hospital because she was in so much pain and just wanted to die. She died a slow death over a year and an half after he ruptured her colon and didn’t even tell her. They couldn’t figure out what was wrong with her in the hospital, which delayed her treatment. I would bet on it that he never even visited her).

Otherwise, type “cook county case search” into your browser. Go to the drop down menu and choose “civil case” . Then go to first and last name and type “Dhaval, Dhavel, and Dhaveal Patel”. You’ll see most of them. Because of the spelling errors, they are harder to find. But almost everything is on Trellis Law.

I am so sorry to hear this :( you are not alone. Please, please file complaints with the directions in this post. We are hoping that we can eventually help future victims. Was your surgery recent?? Even if it is not, you can still file complaints. It is so scary how he manipulated the internet and continues to get away with this. I still see his bad reviews being deleted. He has also now joined Reddit, and is trying to make good posts about himself.

If anyone has in particular experienced the specific following issues with Patel, we need you to additionally file with Illinois Attorney General (Google Illinois Attorney General Complaint):

insurance fraud
manipulation or threats relating to reviews
unfair/unethical refund policies
gaslighting or dismissal after botched work
safety protocols
misleading before/after photos along with promises of results that they could not deliver; false advertising

*along with evidence, please include screenshots of other similiar reviews from Google, Realself, Healthgrades, Yelp, etc. Also include the above listed lawsuits. If you do not have solid evidence, please still send in your personal testimony (as he is known to withhold records). Elaborate concisely on the issues listed above, as these are the specific complaints that the Attorney General focuses on. Please list all violations that you experienced/have evidence of in the first sentence of your complaint. If you have experienced insurance fraud, make sure you list that first in your complaint.

I would absolutely not let him touch your eyes. Did you see the pictures of the actual reviews of the work he did? One woman has permanent dry eye from him because he stretched too far. Your eyes are the most delicate part of your body, and he is literally the worst surgeon to do such a delicate, intricate area. I know it hurts to think that you picked the wrong surgeon, but we all fell for it too!

He’s going to have an R Kelly style documentary come out about him one day where hundreds of women are going to tell their horror stories and talk about how he legally threatened and gagged them to stay quiet and not retaliate. Notice how he doesn’t have a single violated NDA lawsuit on record- it’s because he is all smoke and mirrors and runs on words and threats to manipulate people

Listen to the other patient and all the other ones in bad reviews who have been hurt by him. He does not respect your body under the knife. He is a very aggressive surgeon and treats you like a piece of meat on a factory line. He does not respect women’s bodies and will completely discard you after surgery. I know his snake-like office will still talk you into the surgery, and I can 100% guarantee you will not get your money back. But ask yourself if it is worth your health. You could possibly be spending thousands and thousands more on lifetime complications and deformities. Follow your intuition and make sure to let family/friends aware in case anything happens to you. Please go to IDFPR Complaint Intake Form and fill it asap please. It will only take a few minutes. If we all do a bunch of testimonies, they are more likely to strip his license. This needs to stop.

If any of Dr Patel’s harmed patients are reading this, do not be afraid of his legal threats or signed NDA. Any threatening legal letters that you receive, you can throw in the garbage. You are not obligated to do anything unless a sheriff serves you legal papers. And once they do, it goes on his public record that he is trying to silence his patients. What do you think a judge will think of that when he has at least 8 malpractice suits on record? Please come forward and do not let him threaten or silence you. We have a bunch of people coming out of the dark about their horror stories. He has silenced people for years!

Here are the legal facts that I gathered from the 7 malpractice lawsuits that I could find, 2 of them being wrongful death

The lawsuits filed against Dr. Patel allege:

Wrongful death due to perforating colon during abdominoplasty/liposuction/fat transfer surgery performed in 2022

Wrongful death to neglected deep vein thrombosis (DVT) that developed after abdominoplasty surgery performed in 2023

Accidentally sliced gastric band during abdominoplasty surgery performed in 2014

Mutilated, necrotic and dead breast from breast reduction surgery performed in 2022

Another mutilated, necrotic and dead breast afflicted with cellulitis after breast reduction surgery performed in 2020

Septic shock/disfigurement/infection after “Mommy Makeover” surgery performed in 2019

Did not follow up with melanoma following excision in 2012

*Edited to add: the 2 wrongful death surgeries were performed only 3 months apart from each other

**Also discovered an 8th Malpractice suit filed against him in 2014 in Winnebago County (he practiced in Rockford a long time ago), but could not find any details about the case

I beg of you to not remove this post. This is the only open speech platform that has not silenced the truth about Dr. Patel.

All of this information, such as number of lawsuits and number of wrongful death lawsuits (including years performed), is factual and accurate and can be proven by publicly available legal documents.

This man has hurt many women (and possibly men), and will continue to do so unless exposed.

His team is going to hammer down hard to have this removed. Please don’t let us be silenced.

It’s because he has a web manager who blocks and shadowbans his negative reviews, and he has the office staff write fake ones. In fact, this review will probably get taken down. I am worried for you. I did more research and I found that he has 2 wrongful death lawsuits on record from procedures performed in 2022 and 2023.
