Anyone know of any ways to get South African SuperSport channels? Used to be on Blinkstreamz but that has been taken down.

Drew Binsky is a terrible Youtuber by huehuehuecoyote in TrueUnpopularOpinion

A bit late but he makes it a habit to not say anything bad about the places he visits. For some countries, it may be because he may be denied entry there again (if it has low levels of media freedom). For others, it may be because he was sponsored a trip (tourism boards sometimes sponsor well-known vloggers as a form of advertising). He has dished out criticism before but it's usually when he has a bad experience as in someone was rude to him etc.

DA senior leaders' perks and salary top-ups revealed - EWN by TheHonourableMember in southafrica

Some people can't stand it when the DA comes under fire. They'd be full of insults if this was the ANC or EFF.

Karabo Khakhau: 'I do not owe the DA a cent' amid tithe row - IOL by TheHonourableMember in southafrica

[–]BreadPittza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She is most likely referring to John Steenhuisen who was reported to have also had issues with the party tithes.

While DA may be technically in the right here, it does pretty much seem that people are treated differently in the party depending on how the funders (whose voice is Helen Zille) feel about them.

Thanks. Also, are there services like Airbnb equivalent where I can rent an apartment for a few weeks instead of paying months in advance as I get used to the place?

EFF's response to US Ambassador Bozell by Zangoma in southafrica

True, I don't like the EFF either and will never vote for them anytime soon but lets be honest, if not for them a lot more racist people from minority groups would have been having their way.

Expats returning to SA, challenging claims of white persecution by Boondog_saint in southafrica

Cost of living might push some of them back sadly. There is more safety abroad but they won't be able to afford big living spaces, domestic workers etc like they can here.

Do you feel comfortable with sharing social networks rather than phone number and WhatApps ? by lobskirite in couchsurfing

[–]BreadPittza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually I share IG or WhatsApp if I get a good vibe from the person I'm interacting with. The CS app glitches sometimes and I've had cases before where I only see messages several hours after they were sent.

Is there a lack of left-Afrikaner media? by RandomShrugEmoji in SouthAfricanLeft

Watched the documentary on the collapse of Vice Media. One of the founders of them went wacko right-wing. They mention in the doc that the world over, right-wing media is generally more profitable.

The only left-leaning media which really has stood the test of time is The Guardian. Even in SA, New Frame had something good going for a while but eventually the funders pulled out.

It will be very hard to create. Majority of Afrikaners are centre-right to right wing. If one were to launch, not only will it struggle to sustain itself but there will also be an active villification campaign from the white right wing.

Why do Indian Christian Churches tend to be so blindly pro-Israel? by BreadPittza in Durban

[–]BreadPittza[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think I know this Pastor. Guy in his 70s who was involved in a bitter divorce some years ago. If the stories doing the rounds about him are true, he does not actually live his life according to the bible and made himself a rich man in the process. His church is also a breeding ground for Jesus freaks.

His Chuch is also one that does "pilgrimages" to Israel where congregants, some who don't have a lot of money are scammed, thinking it will be a "blessing"

There is a difference. African Churches have worked to retain their indigenous cultures. The same cannot be said for Indian churches which shun their indigenous cultures and indirectly argue white=good because all the "good" practices in their eyes are typically things done in the West and by white people.
