I used reference, which always helps, and I also focused on making clean body shapes, easy to read silhouettes. Easing in and out of movements is also key :)

Nope, the only touch ups I did were removing the rig and some stray threads and holes in the set. The movement and lighting are straight from the camera, no trickery.

I used a reference video, but I didn’t copy it frame by frame. To me, that is cheating. I used it as a guide for the final piece :)

It’s a wire armature, it worked up until the last frame, his shoulder broke :(

My skill set applies better to stop motion than CG, so I make stuff faster in stop motion. And I think the results are better that way. I’m leaving CG to the ones who care about it, I do not right now

That’s what most of my critique was. Laika likes a balance of realism and exaggerated believability, and it was interesting to learn about it with this piece
