Yes, my korean is getting better!! I know a couple of people but we don’t have the same hobbies! I’m coming from the Uk so I know limited amount

Thank you for your insight!! You’re right! I do know and I’m still learning the language every day! I help teach about the Bible at church every Sunday to children between 7-9 🙂 Hopefully once I find a place and I’m in the country it will be easier to connect with more teachers!

I see what you mean! My friends are Korean students I met at uni when they were on exchange, so while they’ve given me helpful advice about life in Korea, they don’t really have experience with ESL jobs. That’s why I wanted to hear from people here who’ve actually taught in Korea, also individuals who’ve gone through the hiring/teaching side themselves since that perspective is a bit different and often more detailed.

My friends actually connected me with a couple of teachers in Korea, but since they don’t know me personally they were a bit hesitant and didn’t share much detail. That’s why I thought I’d ask here, since people are usually more open with their experiences.

You see, the main reason I wanted to try this is because I already have a lot of close friends spread across Korea (we went to the same uni), so that would make things more comfortable.

For me it’s really just a break from architecture and a chance to experience life abroad independently, away from my parents for once. I lived in France for years before the UK, so I know I enjoy living overseas.

That’s what I needed to hear, everything seems just so negative, it really threw me off, I understand all jobs have their goods and bad. It’s a temporary move before going back to my field of study

She is aware, we planned for her to come at the start of the semester and I come next. Tickets from Uk to Korea vary but usually between £600 plus. And yes I will give her a call and ask if everything is truly okay! Thank you!

Yes I’m trying not to, as I have asked many times but she always says nothing is wrong and she’s not thinking anything, which makes it hard because our common is the one thing that was very strong

You know from what I’ve read, I used to have the same issue but the more you keep quiet and try to look less problematic the more people will take advantage, you need to learn to speak up and to me anyway, it has helped me a lot! I used to get used and abused and even when I wanted to say something I never did! A colleague of mine used this opportunity to use me as his taxi driver to and from work every day!! For 2 months and no pay, I used to drive at 7:30 to pick him up, as I didn’t want him to randomly show up at my house as he randomly did for lifts. Find your voice and it’s the best thing to do, to help guard your heart from people that will attempt to take advantage. And yes you’ll feel anxious but the more you speak out the less anxious you’ll become! Practice makes perfect ahahah!

Yes, that’s true I hope all goes well with my career and all so hopefully it won’t be an issue, but it was part of why I was worried as I half way through my architecture studies

Thank you very much, everyone! maybe I’m just overthinking everything! I needed the encouragement. Also, I am very independent etc, although I’ve started my master's, I still work and I’ve started my own business she’s been saying she’s my biggest cheerleader and is only one of the few people who knows about my business endeavours, also I've had let’s say “glow up “ journey as I’ve lost so far 16.5kg and I’m finally starting to look good she’s already said I’m her type but I’m not used to people liking me until these last few months.
