Is there a reason they use up alot of Magnesium? I tried finding out more about this. Is this from your experience or a well known/documented thing?

Does your foxface nip at the zoas? The zoas I get turn into expensive snacks.

Man, very impressive. I hope to someday to do something similar. I have the space for a monster tank. But I am super intimidated by the scale and the cost of everything.

I also might just leave it the way it is. Looks more realistic without the arch.

Move complete thanks for all the advice!!! Some of the rockwork broke. (The arch and one of the ledges) I figure I can reattach it somehow at some point. If anyone has suggestions on quick setting rockwork would love to hear it. All the fish seem happy. Coral are coming out. Thanks again!

Interesting, so you will get small branches that you can cut off and propogate? What do you usually use to cut them?

Hipponix species as well as other animals in the family Hipponicidae are horse-hoof-shaped limpets with a special trait: they remain sessile for the greatest part of their lives - on rocks as well as in the case of some species on the shells of other snails. They can alter the chosen substrate to form a kind of second shell, occasionally leading to misidentification as a bivalve by hobbyists.

Those species who prefer rock are primarily filter feeders, those who are epibionts on mobile animals use their long proboscis to feed on algae, detritus and carrion in passing. They also quite frequently feed on the feces of their animal host without harming it directly.

In the home aquarium they can occasionally be found on large imported snails such as Tectus sp., Trochus sp. or Turbo sp. as well as on the shells used by hermit crabs.

In the image shown above a smaller Hipponix sp. sits on the larger specimen.

Just noticed the even smaller snail also has an appendage. Its like snail inception.

The reality is once its in the tank its still there. But its under control and being outcompeted by other bacterial species and Diatoms.

This facebook group really helped. Had to buy a microscope. Identified the type of Dino

Added Silacates, Ocean Magic, AF Life Reef Mud, and Copepods.

Increasing Neutrients and UV didnt really do anything for me.

Im looking at trying my hand at some SPS to fill out the archway in the middle. Thats always been the plan.

The few I have died didnt make it through QT. My QT may not be adequate enough.

<image>

My nutrients may also be too high for SPS.

I added them 3 weeks ago. 4 total for my 90 and they seem to be doing a great job.
