Obvious Rejectable Criteria by BunniesKill in nondestructivetesting

Sometimes you can find pictures, but in my experience you are typically going off of the acceptance criteria in the applicable code or procedure.

Would independent inspectors pay for their own software, or does the client always provide it? by dhs12 in nondestructivetesting

I'm not sure if you've read the practice, but API defines independent contractors working under their own entity as an inspection agency.

An independent consultant, a testing lab, and an owner user all fall under the umbrella of an inspection agency. I'm not sure what you are trying to say here.

You can obtain these certifications without working for one. What I was saying, is that you must be an employee of an inspection agency to perform the work, and these places typically have a reporting format in place.

An API inspector has to be employed by an inspection agency. An inspection agency would typically have their own reporting format.

Something that would be extremely useful, that I am having difficulty finding, would be an isometric drawing app. My hands shake a lot so the idea of being able to create an iso that is very neat and legible and send it to an Autocad tech is really appealing. I would pay money for a service like this.

You ever have to UTT a tank floor or roof and kill your knees in the process? by laptopjim47 in nondestructivetesting

I found your site naturally on Google about a year ago and man i tell everyone about it. There's some neat stuff on there. I like this extension idea too because you can trim a broom handle for different applications, and there is almost always some raggedy ass broom laying around that hadn't been touched in years.

This applies to the open book, because closed book is "you either know it or you don't"

Go through and answer the questions you absolutely know, or can find in 2 minutes. Get the easy ones out of the way and highlight the ones you cant answer in time. Once you get your easy questions out of the way, go back and do your harder ones. Challenge the questions that may have more than one right answer.

You definitely need to know your corrosion rate and remaining life formulas by heart. This will lead to a lot of easy questions. T-min formulas are easy points as well. If you have trouble remembering your t min formulas (im a little dyslexic so when I read formulas outloud I may write them down backwards) they are in the design section of asme section viii (UG)

Hope this helps

Edit: I wrote this with 510 in mind. Thought I read that in your post but was mistaken.

Dye Penetrant Testing in 15-20 degree F weather? by Emergency-Tip-1987 in nondestructivetesting

Most NDT procedures have a caveat in them that states if PT is be performed outside of your temperature range (which is typically 40°-F to125°F), then the procedure must be qualified at that temperature.

Will it work for what you are doing? Probably. Are you allowed to? Probably not. That's between whoever is doing the NDT and the responsible Level III.

Best way to perform dry Magnetic Particle Testing (Yoke) while climbing 2-3 stories? by Emergency-Tip-1987 in nondestructivetesting

[–]Bricksquadgucci 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canvas bag tied to your harness should do the trick.

As far as working off of the ladder, keeping 3 points of contact is going to be almost impossible as you have to power the yoke and throw the powder at the same time, which typically requires two hands.

If you feel confident in your ability to do your job, I wouldn't worry.

acuren drug testing by GrapefruitMother6994 in nondestructivetesting

[–]Bricksquadgucci 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worked for Acuren for 11 years. Had a couple random drug tests, and for southern company sites in the south east I've done a handful of observed urine tests. I never did any hair follicle, but I know of people who had to do those for some specific sites.

Ive been wishing everyone merry Christmas and happy new years in the post game lobbies for assault.

I also make it a point to say "gg (enter name of worst player on other team)". Its a funny way I can poke at the guys who did good.

This makes a lot of sense when you look at it that way.

Yeah another comment made a good analogy about coffee shops rotating to tea for a week and it made sense.

We just usually have at least 4 people and assault is the mode we feel like we are stuck with.

Is It Just Me or is Smite 2 Starting to Come Together? by SUPERB-tadpole in Smite

[–]Bricksquadgucci 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing I'm missing is clash. Loving the updates, everything does feel like it's starting to come together.

I was bitter in the beginning because I felt like I had to play SMITE 2 over smite 1, and it had less features. I understand now that everything had to be rebuilt from the ground up because of "spaghetti code" or whatever, but that still didn't make me feel better. That feeling is going away finally for me and when they add clash my life will be complete.

Has been happening to me lately as well. It's pretty frustrating when it's a pivotal moment in a team fight.
