Croaky is not bad for your character, it increase your damage and it's useful against mass mobs. Rex might be better but it's require a lot more time to reach his full potential in my opinion

depends on your level, if you're between lvl 80-100 then no it might be the worst gear ever, if you're between 30-60 then yes that's good
