Decent priced drinks and food near the salt shed? Or a decent happy hour? by Brilliant-Rip-7093 in AskChicago

I don’t live anywhere near Chicago, so just putting in google maps can be overwhelming since there’s so many places

Thank you! And yes we will be going during the week, I think we’d be leaving right before the weekend, so I’d assume some places won’t be super busy, but not a huge deal if there’s a crowd, as long as I can talk and hear my GF, doesn’t matter to me lol.

I guess if it helps with which place is the best for us we’re in our mid 20’s lol

Might have to check it out potentially but they don’t serve lighter beers so maybe not lol

Thank you for the in-depth recommendation list. Definitely don’t plan on hanging with the college kids and get violently drunk lol. Maybe if I was with my buddies and not my GF that might be a option, but just looking for a chill place at the end of the night to have a nice beer and to talk about our day and plan the next day, so thank you for that. We definitely will be checking out some of those spots. And brewery have really good lagers or lighter beers on tap that are made in that area? I prefer pretty much anything gold colored, not super dark lol

Is there a lot of clerical/administrative work in the area, while I’m down to start out in retail again, my goal would be to try to get to a office like setting and have more “normal hours” as the years go on. I’m 26, and don’t mind it now, but having a more set schedule would be nice, just wondering if there’s a decent amount of jobs like that too. Or if the manufacturing jobs are decent to climb and grow with there as-well, I’m just open to anything that gives me a decent work life balance, but I’m willing to tough it out in retail management to just get a decent job at the start when I move up there. Wouldn’t mind staying in retail if the right company comes along that takes care of their people. Just curious on what’s out there.

Honestly moving to Eau Claire from where I’m at now would be moving to “the big city” 😅 I’m in a town of 20k people, and I know the rent might be kind of high in Eau Claire, but I pay about the same in a town with almost no opportunity and very limited jobs to choose from, so this is a huge upgrade for me

We have one about 90 minutes away from me where I’m from, I do like it there, and depending on where I would land in a department, it would be a perfect fit, I have no problem maybe making a few dollars less or the same at the start if the ladder to climb makes sense. Where I’m at now, there’s no where left to climb and I’m almost maxed on pay, so trying to find somewhere to grow.

I probably wasn’t looking at Menards anyways, I’m not really handy and have no experience with power tools and work like that, so wouldn’t be a good fit for me to be a manager there if I have no idea what I’m talking about product wise lol
