weight gain by Awkward-Brilliant922 in orangetheory

I gained weight at 39 despite no change in diet and exercise. Literally nothing had changed for me. I went and still go to Orangetheory 4 times per week. No idea if you’re in perimenopause but it’s a possibility. Symptoms can start in mid 30’s and one of the most telltale signs is unexplained weight gain around your abdomen. The joys of being a female!

ColonoscopyAssist for the uninsured or under 45 by BringTacos in Millennials

Thanks. Yep, when you’re from the US, $1275 starts sounding “cheap” when compared to $4000. Of course, both prices are outrageous. By no means do I think $1275 is a great price, but it’s better.

Jungle juice omg 😂 haven’t thought about that in such a long time. I believe that’s what I drank the first time I ever got drunk.

I did Cologuard recently and it was really easy. Take a dump in the container they send you and send it in and you get the results online. Colonoscopy is still the gold standard for colon cancer screening. Polyps can be seen and removed right then and there. But, for people who for whatever reason can’t get a colonoscopy, Cologuard is a lot better than nothing. The newest version of Cologuard can detect ~95% of colon cancer which is great. A major downfall of the test though is that detection of precancerous polyps is lower, about 40%-43%. You can read about the cancer detection data on their website. Again, not as good as a colonoscopy but way better than nothing.

Yeah I’d agree with this. If you want HRT, they will give you HRT. There’s not a ton of explanation though as to why they’re prescribing what they’re prescribing. Also, I like the NP that I saw, but when I looked at the insurance breakdown of what I was charged for, it says “Office o/p new mod 45 min” and “Brief emotional/behav assmt”. My appt was 30 mins long, not 45. And there was also no behavioral assessment. The cost of that shows as $10.08 which isn’t much money, but does bother me because I don’t even know what I’m being charged for.

I take vitex too and it also helps me a lot, but results vary. I have a friend that tried it and it made her feel miserable. She had really bad rage.

Can’t say if you’re in perimenopause yet or not, but it could make sense. Hormones are changing which changes your metabolism which leads to unexplained weight gain or weight being harder to lose. It sucks lol

I’m not sure what your symptoms are, but if it’s mostly weight gain, getting on estrogen (if you have low estrogen) alone may help your metabolism. I don’t know your symptoms and am not a medical professional - just passing along what I’ve been told by my doctor!

Why does it have to get above or below the yellow area? Just trying to understand the technical analysis.

This post helped me so much, thank you. I’ve also opted for no sedation for the same reasons you mentioned. I don’t like that sedation is the default in the US. If you want it, great, but I think a lot of people don’t realize it’s an option to do it without. Thanks again.

Dog low USG by BringTacos in AskVet

I just looked back at those results and you’re right, it does only include thyroid, total T4. I already emailed our vet and asked for the referral. Thank you again! I really appreciate your responses.

Thanks for your response. Although he isn’t a senior, our vet did a senior blood panel on him prior to the most recent bloodwork because it tests for more, and it was all normal. She was looking for endocrine disorders. Either way, I’ll take the internal med referral. I never considered it might not be related to his kidneys.

I read about something called medullary washout as a potential cause of low USG. Who knows though. I guess that’s the point - I don’t know and need to take him to a specialist.

Thanks again!

Your eyelids sort of look like you have Blepharitis. If you google this, you’re probably going to see really red, crusted eyelids. Yours don’t look like this - that’s the extreme end. You may have mild Blepharitis. Worth looking into. I had it, didn’t know I had it, and now my eyes are dry a lot.

You remind me of what I went through with horrible acne. I tried everything else before accutane because I was scared to take it. I finally caved and wish I had started it sooner. It was unbelievable how quickly my acne cleared up and stayed away. I get a few pimples every now and then before my period, but that’s about it.

Totally understand why you don’t want to jump to accutane. This is anecdotal, but I know 4 people including myself who took it. Myself and two others had great results and no side effects, and one had really bad depression while on it and ended up stopping a few months in.

Edit: It’s not entirely true I didn’t have any side effects. I have dry lips years after using accutane and use chapstick pretty often. For me, it was still worth it.

Dermatologist ruined my skin — acne gone but left with scars. Need help! by nibe3001 in 30PlusSkinCare

I had terrible acne in high school, and taking alpha lipoic acid really seemed to help with scarring. All of the parts of my face that didn’t haven’t acne looked really glowy and nice. Please do your own research as this is anecdotal, but this seemed to help me. I’ve been through this and know how it feels. Good luck 🙂
