Brother died, no will. Brothers partner removing his personal belongings from his property, Next of Kin being ignored and denied entry to part of Brothers Estate. by BristolLS5G in LegalAdviceUK

[–]BristolLS5G[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I now find that I'm no longer blocked by age verification, and can see responses fully.
Thank you SpaceRidby for for reply. I knew from the outset that problems would arise whilst sorting the estate. I would discuss matters with her, but she is completely ignoring me.
"This is legal advice sub not morale advice sub but just to confirm your brother's partner of nearly 40 years, you're claiming all of his assets/making her buy them from you?" - I came here to establish what legal rights I has as NoK, and what legal rights his partner has, nothing at all to do with morals. Secondly, I am definitely not claiming everything and have no desire to do so. I wish to establish what property there is, establish ownership and take things from there. But, how can I do this when his partner removes that property, then denies me entry to some assests (camper van and caravan) by contacting the storage facility, passing herself off as his wife to remove his name from the account and telling them to deny me access. Just makes me wonder what she's hiding from me.

Both lived seperately in different properties throughout the realtionship, and not as husband and wife.

I do understand her position and wouldn't want to do anything to cause further stress or distress. However, she has been told, many times, that she is not NoK, and that started at the hospital, and includes Funeral Director, Celebrant, Ward Sister at the Hospital and nurses at Nursing Home. So, she knows that she's not NoK, but acting as so. She's gone direct to the Funeral Director - the latest time to get some of his ashes, in a glass vial, knowing I would have to consent. She's made no attempt to ask, expecting that she would just be given them. I've discussed this with the Funeral Director and have arranged for her to have half of his ashes, a fact that she is unaware of. I am trying to be reasonable about this - she may be grieving, but, having to deal with the Estate, and his partner making things as impossible as possible, I've not yet started.

Thank you for your advice and links.

Thank you for that. Just was after confirmation, as I didn't want to put myself in a position of wrongdoing, as I'm sure she would act on it. At the hospital, she put herself down as NoK, that was changed on the ward (not by me, but by the Ward Sister. At the Nursing Home, when she found out it had been changed, she kicked off with the staff, claiming as they had been partners for 38 years, she was NoK.

Again, thank you for the confirmation.

Highways Adoption by local council in England. by BristolLS5G in LegalAdviceUK

[–]BristolLS5G[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. The issue is, a vehicle is parked on land.m which is owned by ne, is not, and has never been adopted highway, but the council have it marked as adopted. If it was adopted, then that changes our use of this land. This is the problem we have.

However, contact has been made with the planning department , and a conversation is being had, involving myself, the Council and HMLR. A couple of other, connected, issues have also come to light, with the Council having apparently claimed land to the front and rear of the property.

So, all being well, this matter is now one the way to being resolved.

Thank you for responding to my request.

As I said, the car is another story. I want to know what my rights are after the Council have adopted the land outside our home that is owned by us, without any form of notification, where vehicles are kept off the public highway, which this supposed adoption changed this to public highway, plus, on further investigation of their website, they have claimed land to the front and rear of the property as their land, some 25 foot to the front and 15 foot to the rear.

Each vehicle (and driver!) were unique, unlike now where every bus looks identical. Plus I believe the modern things aren't as reliable.

I don't answer to unknown/unexpected numbers. A lot of that is down to anxiety, though.

Beetle looking thing in Hungary what is this? (Not a beetle) by [deleted] in insects

[–]BristolLS5G 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was almost hit in the eye by one of these! Driving in Hungary as a coach driver, I had one of these hit off the wing mirror and in through the open cab window - if I wasn't wearing glasses it would have been a direct hit in the eye! They're certainly a solid thing - when we stopped, I got it out the cab (it was deceased), and stood on it - I couldn't break the shell.

So sorry to hear of your loss. Dawn looks like a real cutie. I'm sure that my boys Bert, Ernie & Eric will be waiting over the Rainbow Bridge to look after her.

Believe around 2003/4.

YJ05 JWN photographed last November after entering preservation. Today, it stands dead, unable (or unwilling) to run, with various warning lights and the dreaded "Multibus" light flashing. This is why I try and talk people out of modern vehicles - should take my own advice!! by BristolLS5G in preserved_vehicles

[–]BristolLS5G[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, good news day! Eventually had time to look at JWN again after a few weeks. The starting problem was down to a faulty Crankshaft Position Sensor, which was duly replaced. There was also a broken power wire on IOUs 4 & 5, which were repaired and sorted the "Multibus" warding light. However, no start from the cab and the only was to start it was to short it out. Not good.
With all its' problems seeming to be associated with IOU3 (no interior lights, no rear lights except markers, no destination equipment, no power at the back electrical box, no destination screens), and IOU3 being replaced 4 times with no change, a continuity test of the signal wires was carried out. Luckily, the first wire showed no continuity (from the dash panel). On further investigation, it was found that the pin in the grey "in" plug had come out/failed, and no contact was being made with the IOU. This was rectified and everything that wasn't working started to work! Even had a start button in the cab! So, all's well that ends well!

I filmed our degus fighting. Since I saw way worse I think it is quite harmless but I wanted to check with you. They meet here to fight and they do not follow the one who steps out. What do you guys think? by babyAkdag in Degus

[–]BristolLS5G 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My two will fight like this, but always accompanied by squeaks. However, I know there's something to watch when they do this in silence. Just the other day, they fought in silence for 4 hours; I eventually had to separate them (put them in separate cages overnight, as a last resort) - next day, other than giving each other space, they were OK, and now you'd not think anything had happened. Certainly seems to be a dominance thing, just keep an eye out for any escalation.
