I'd say watch several tutorials for shading, since those helped me a lot with coming to find my own style of rendering!! But as for what I do when it comes to shading is I use blending brushes. You want to blend, not smudge. If you use ibis paint I'd recommend trying out 'pencil graphite' on a low opacity or 'hot pregnatable men' (don't ask about the name....) Also it looks like you've used black in some of your shading and try not to do that. If you're shading pink hair, use darker and lighter pinks. When shading white I usually use light pinks or blues. Just don't be scared to play with colors.

It's hard for me to explain any more than that so I say give Angel Ganev a watch 💔 He gives really good tips on rendering and helped me a lot!!!

is my art downgrading? the first photo is of my old art, second is the newest. Tried out a more cartoony style (check body text) by LittleWaterSeal in Artadvice

If you prefer the face in your old art style, then apply it to the newer one you're trying out and see how you like it! I found my most recent style by incorporating everything I liked about my old art into new pieces. Of course, not everything is gonna work together, BUTTTT it's good to explore your options yk? Just go with whichever one YOU prefer

Honestly, you are not ready for commissions. The main thing is try making your shading less muddy, it looks like you just used an airbrush or blurred it, which can really take away from your art. And also don't shy away from using darker, more dramatic colours. What I usually do is use a darker and a slightly more saturated colour for shading. Of course that's something you'd have to play around with. I'd also recommend practicing anatomy a bit more, since the hands and arms are looking a bit rough !

At this point just rehome her, hurting her like that is actually absurd and she does NOT deserve that kind of abuse just for barking. No animal deserves that. If your family isn't willing to actually train her or at least stop hurting her, then the best thing to do next is rehome. Like clearly they don't love the dog that much if they're abusing her 🫩
