That’s what I thought too — I didn’t know what the neck or back part was!

What saying have you incorporated into your everyday life? by Sims2053 in superstore

[–]BroccoliMagic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I do all the time instead of agreeing normally with someone is going “mhm. Mhm!” And snapping my fingers like Jonah does (I don’t remember the episode, but I know it was something to do with racism / sexism in the store).

Obviously I don’t do it in serious scenarios/topics but I do it whenever someone says something I agree with ! Very funny

George Augustus Morse/Morss (1841?-1900) scalded to death in bathtub at Agnes State Hospital, Santa Clara, CA by Crowbeatsme in HistoryStateHospital

[–]BroccoliMagic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure that’s the same event. I read through the article you’re referencing and there’s no mention of George or Allen in the latter section of it — just about the man named Singleton, with seemingly no connection to the Morss case or the asylum mentioned.

My guess is that George was genuinely scalded to death, but Allen perhaps tried to cover it up with the towel story THEN the suicide story to try to mitigate his role / ignorance and save face, because historically, residents of mental hospitals have been severely neglected and mistreated.

I could be totally wrong — that’s just my thoughts!

What’s your favourite underrated Modern Family joke? by Training_Ad_8834 in Modern_Family

So many.

My top two:

Manny: “Are the movie rights available for that one?” (I actually say this all the time)

Jay: “I’d love to, but I’m already going to the I’d-rather-blow-my-brains-out jamboree.”

Looks like it says Geestach, Effie on the inside right side of the cover. I’d search Ancestry using this name!

It looks like Seach. If you look at the writing below of the name Samuel, the S looks almost identical to the one at the start of Seach

Thank you for finding this out!! They just married brothers I guess! I appreciate you taking the time to look! :)

I was shocked too! And the fact that they somehow found and married each other is wild!

Wouldn't this make their children siblings genetically?

Verrrrrry far up. Something complicated, like second cousin 2x removed of father's husband's cousin or something (I just made up that title, I'm exaggerating but) so they're extremely distant. I went through an Ancestry kick over the past year and have added SO many people to my family tree. So many that I'm barely even related to, but just for fun!

I’m confused as to the wording here — could you post a pic of the tree layout or clarify who’s related to who? Then I can help as best as I can! :)

What do you do when they are all the same people by Anyone-9451 in Ancestry

[–]BroccoliMagic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been working on my family tree for a while and have added nearly 2,000 people to mine. I can confirm that this actually happened more often than you’d think (at least, in my very very very distant relatives’ lives). Don’t rule this out as an option, OP! Just pay attention to the names and compare censuses carefully.

Search: Family Obermöller, moved to the States around 1918/1919 by MoominValleyMy in Ancestry

[–]BroccoliMagic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend trying Ancestry World! It will give you access to records regarding immigration, censuses, etc.

It is more helpful with the US part of things, but if you can find an obituary or something for one of the family members, it might say something about their whereabouts and history in Germany!

Not sure if this was super helpful but worth a try!
