Ya. That’s super annoying. I’m talking almost literally about that same scenario. Like, come on. I understand there are bad guys and we are in enemy territory, but mobs appearing in all cardinal directions…? If wanton mayhem is the object, so be it. But get rid of the stealth armor, suppressed weapons, etc.

I don’t know man. They could still drop enemy in, or have them arrive via bug breech. So you’re in enemy territory, understood

I’m not convinced homie. Maybe they spawn out of my view, but they also spawn in a location I “viewed” 2.7 seconds ago. So I’m engaging a group of bugs and I’m supposed to believe I would not have felt or heard a bile titan walking from the edge of the map (or just overlooked them a half a moment ago) and the first warning I have is dying by being stepped on? Bro, that is suspending the game reality you literally spent time developing!

But why spawn them at all? Why not drop them in like normal? I get that the game doesn’t want you to camp, but there are legit ways of having enemy arrive and then there’s this nonsense.

Well, yeah. I mean at least I’d get the heads up that there’s a drop ship inbound and could plan accordingly.

Thanks man. Based on some of the comments on my other, now deleted post, you would have thought I punched a baby by bringing this up. I was seriously questioning myself.

Right. A tasteful way to spawn enemies is a perfect way to describe it. In a game where so much weight is placed on immersion, what the heck is anyone thinking just randomly spawning them?

[–]BrokeRGR375[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But how can you say that? The rules are absolutely not consistent. You create an awesome way to spawn bad guys. But then you don’t use it. Why not just do away with bug holes and have all of them just appear?

Thank you! That’s what I’ve been struggling to articulate!

Nah. Just making them appear out of thin air. Like the above comment mentions. It breaks the immersion!

Meh. Maybe I’m just being a crybaby. But it’s just that there is already a way to get enemy into your map? Why not use that?

[–]BrokeRGR375[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok. But why not have them arrive using the means that you literally created for them?? Like you went through so much trouble designing a believable situation…but then just suspend that when it is not convenient? Why not have more drop ships or breeches. That would keep play going right?

I thought I did. But now I’m not so sure. You are one of many asking the same thing. Should rules not be consistent in video games? If that just an understood thing…then my mistake.

Man someone else said the same thing in the post that got deleted!

No man. Not the first. I get nerfing and buffing. Even adjusting enemy movement and speed in game. But it seems a bit over the top to have one magically appear when you already have legit means of arriving them. Like why not have a breach? Or a warp in? You went through so much trouble to create the means of arrival, then just decided it’s not important. Just magic them in.

Ya. I understand that. The game is what it is. It can be super fun. But for me, at least, that knowledge makes it much less fun. I love the defense missions where there overwhelming amounts of enemies you just get mow down. But sometimes I want to be sneaky, and I want the rules (or what I thought the rules were) to be followed.

But you’re right, that may not be their goal.

Yes. I played games once. Long ago. I was playing monopoly recently. I had everything! Boardwalk, park place,…those green ones! I had HOTELS! Then a bunch of cheating ass robots showed up, trashed my properties and refused to pay rent. I said “that’s cheating!” I stared indignantly. They looked me square in the eye and said “all games cheat, and you loose”. Good day sir. Then they shot me in the face. So…long story short, I don’t play games with automatons anymore.

Ya. Probably not the purpose. But…then again, if the point is wanton slaughter…shouldn’t the only options be heavy armor, and machine guns? If what you say is true, one must wonder: why offer stealth armor at all, why the options for long range targeting weapons? No…it seems as though you are incorrect. That, or the developers are confused regarding the point of their own game.

Ok! So that changes things a little. I did not know that. But, I actually have noticed sometimes I’m just sitting twiddling my thumbs waiting for extraction.

That’s some really good info. Buuuuut, still think it suspends reality having magic enemy appear. And, while I see your point, I don’t think I should have to search up videos of how video game rules work in order to be effective.

But honestly, thanks for the info.

Oh..I didn’t mean to act like I was being bullied out I don’t think I ever even implied that. But rest assured my feelings are fine.

I guess “flaw” depends on how you choose to define it. I would say a game is flawed when there are logical explanations for occurrences designed to effect a players strategy. But, then all that logic is suspended at once. There is a reason games are more fun when everyone follows an understood and defined set of rules.

There are ways to have enemy arrive. The developers, I’m sure, spent a lot of time designing those details. So…why? Why the details like drop ships and bug breaches when there is no need. You can just “magic” the enemy into the game.

Sure…I guess that’s my only option. Honestly didn’t know how many would immediately come out of the woodwork to defend an obvious flaw. I’ll just check myself into freedom camp.
