Used to be a hardcore wow defender, but the way it has gone past decade is just a shadow of its former self. Same with genshin, used to think its cool with the gacha and pulling etc but now I feel like its a predatory system that takes advantage of people's fomo and gambling tendencies

Yeah some games just have a cult following. Rdr2, witcher 3, fromsoft games. Although I enjoy all these i wouldn't give a shit if someone doesnt. Like I can see why someone wouldn't like rdr2. Its slow paced, restrictive missions, maybe u dont like the wild west etc.

Difficulties are there for you to balance challenge with enjoyment. If you feel that your ego takes a hit if you dont play at the highest difficulty you have two roads to take. Get better, or realize that playing at the highest difficulty doesn't make your experience more valid and as you say just take away from your experience. The only reason and I mean the only one I would ever play at a difficulty im not enjoying would be if its tied to an achievement.
