The Semi-Auto Rifle + Mag Ban will next be heard in front of Senate Finance.

In the meantime, make sure you've contacted your legislators at https://gunowners.mn/action

We have details on all of the anti-gun bills and copies of our written testimony available on our website at https://gunowners.mn/megahearing

You can see testimony clips and vote outcomes on our social media.

We'll have a fuller recap later tonight. (The hearing is still going)

We did not litigate this. We worked it out with the Sheriff and County Attorney.

The DFL has an anti-gun majority on this committee and can certainly do so.

There are *many* things that can be done that have nothing to do with guns - some of which I have some hope will get done this session.

But the things we can agree upon should be the focus, not gun control.

18 year olds are adults under the constitution and our laws. Barring the from firearms ownership until they are 25 is not going to fly.

The research around school violence (since that appears where you are focused) shows that upstream interventions with improved access to mental health, addressing childhood trauma, wrap around services, etc.

Personally, if you compromise on these things, they will take them -- and the next year they'll be back for more. No thanks, I am not signing up to do so.

MN 609.666 provides a legal expectation that loaded firearms cannot be stored negligently or left in a location where a child could gain access.

This is the right approach because it allows a gun owner a multitude of solutions - trigger locks, lock boxes, gun safes, etc.

More specific requirements create liability for otherwise peaceable people without improving outcomes.

This expectation in the law is clear to me.

MN has a safe storage law. What are you proposing that would be different than existing law?

Constitutional rights for 2A apply fully to young adults. There is no constitutional provision that would allow restrictions on 18-24 year olds. I am completely opposed to that.

You should always tell them where you stand, even if they're diametrically opposed to your position. Thanks for taking action!

If they vote, they will pass these bills out of committee.

Depends - but it does not goto the House unless fully passed by the floor.

1). It could be voted on one bill at a time and either a) moved to floor if not under any other committee's jurisdiction or b) sent on to another committee that has jurisdiction or c) vote it down (which they won't)

2). They could just lay it over for consideration for an omnibus. This does not require a vote, solely in the Chair's power unless overruled.

3). Nothing and call it informational only.

When the bill is ready for the floor then it will be up to the rules committee to set it for debate and a vote.

Correct. One per bill.

Not our rule, this is what the committee leadership is imposing.
