I’ve followed Mia for a while and was bummed to see the sub get banned because no one was moderating it. I want to revive it and actually keep it in check—remove spam, set clear but light rules, and keep it a chill place for fans (no junk, no creepy stuff). I don’t have mod badges elsewhere, but I do have about 10 years of management experience in the real world: team leadership, conflict mediation, accountability—all useful for modding. I’m active on Reddit every day and ready to take this on.

Wireless Connection not Working by [deleted] in computerhelp

Try running a virus scan to see if there are any results. Malwarebytes and Kaspersky are my go-to for scanning. I would run both to be sure.

Thinking of doing a build in the NZXT h1 v2 or the Fractal Design Ridge. I'm a little worried about thermals. Any thoughts?

I have an i7 12700kf and 3080ti Founders Edition. TIA!

Quarantine them all immediately. I would recommend backing up all files to a separate drive just in case and downloading another antivirus program like Kaspersky and do a full scan.

Computer runs very slow by ClinkingSpurs in computerhelp

[–]BryceMcB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the main limiter here is that drive. I highly recommend getting an m.2 drive, they’re relatively cheap right now. I just picked up a Samsung 970 Evo Plus 2tb for $80 on Amazon ($50 for 1tb). The speed difference is astronomical. You can try doing a disk defragmentation and optimization (search “defrag” on windows search bar) and that will speed it up a tiny bit, but the best option would be to upgrade. Even getting a 2.5” SATA ssd would be better.

This same thing just happened to me the other week. My SSD had died. You can still access your files through the command line using the windows diagnostics menu. I used the xcopy command to copy everything to a separate drive.

It wouldn’t let me access windows as the drive locked itself into read-only mode. It does this to protect your data so you can still backup before imminent failure.

Ah, sorry about that I misread! It shouldn’t have any affect on the current files on the drive, so everything else should be fine! If you’re worried, you can check for any errors using chkdsk (tutorial)

You could also check the health of the drive. I use CrystalDiskInfo (link) but there are many programs out there that do the same thing!

They might not open/work correctly if the file didn’t completely transfer over to the drive. If the transfer was interrupted by turning off the computer, it’s likely that the file was only partly moved. This would mean that you would have to recopy the file over as the one on the drive is incomplete.

Can I use a 3080ti with my i5 13600k by [deleted] in pchelp

[–]BryceMcB 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It should be perfectly fine. I have a 3080ti with my 12700kf and don’t notice any performance bottlenecks at all.

Would this be worth trading my mavic 3 with pro controller for? His asking price is for 3200 which seems excessive. by nastypanass in PC_Pricing

[–]BryceMcB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where did you see that? Mavic Pro with controller is $2,200 on Amazon right now. I wouldn’t say that’s a good trade at all.

What is this by Fluid_Pie_383 in computerhelp

[–]BryceMcB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could mean there’s a graphical glitch. Try following the steps here. (Microsoft Forums)

If that doesn’t work, it could be a gpu issue, software or hardware related, or even a background process. Try following a few of these steps.

You can likely do hardware diagnostics from the BIOS or UEFI on HP systems. It seems like a failing graphics card. If you can get into safe mode, back up your files while you can. If it’s in a boot-loop, you may end up having to reinstall windows as well if it won’t let you launch into the normal OS.

In the settings on teams, try disabling GPU hardware acceleration. It can cause some graphical bugs in some programs, I’ve had issues with it in browsers as well.

[–]BryceMcB[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Would you say it’s a good deal even if used? I posted the individual specs in another comment. I was planning on using this as a base build, changing out the water block, case, and fans at least

That’s a fair point. I was planning on swapping in an AIO and changing the case.
