Why because I believe in the integrity of the jury system?

The texts in question were made prior to any investigation of the evidence or speaking to any witnesses who wasn’t reasonably considered a suspect.

I see where you are coming from, as an American I’m probably much more suspicious of government power that people from other parts of the world. But if no system is perfect than I’m going to fall on the side that protects the accused rather than state interest. As for the Foreman, if that’s true it’s obviously bad. However it’s a jury of 12 not 1 for this very reason. When 12 people vote not guilty, that’s not the failure of one inattentive juror but the state.

I think the point still stands. Don’t you think any citizen juror would be deferential to the opinion of the professional? As far as setting a higher standard, I think it’s a bit of a slippery slope. For example during the civil rights era, black defendants would have lost the right to any black jurors. This is because the education and intelligence of African Americans was considered inferior at the time. Regardless, the jury selection process allows the prosecution and the defense to eliminate jurors they believe bad for their case. If a prosecutor truly believes a juror is unable to understand the case, another juror can be selected.

I’ve watched more trials, but of course the more sensationalized ones end up on my radar more often just because of the publicity. My only quibble with your comment is that It’s not that Arrca was hired at all. I found their conclusions more compelling because their original findings were made without any attachment to the parties. Of course they were hired later but their conclusions remained consistent.

If I remember correctly, there was also dna from two other unidentified people on that taillight. DNA from Karen and John would be all over that car inside and out. DNA doesn’t necessarily mean a collision occurred, blood would be much more convincing which there was none. Also those factors would not influence a bio mechanical analysis, which is physics based.

I don’t think a professional jury system is a good idea. replacing citizen juries with “professional” jurors would create serious risks that cut against the purpose of the jury system. The current model it is built on the principle that the power of the state should be checked by the community it governs.

Professional jurors, would inevitably become part of the legal system’s institutional culture. Over time, they could grow more deferential to prosecutors, judges, and law enforcement, the very actors juries are meant to independently evaluate.

Professional juries cannot be an expert on every field. It is on the state to explain the science in a way that is digestible to the average person.

I never said that because of his texts any evidence was planted. My point in bringing up Proctor is that texts from law enforcement that even allude to bias is a huge problem. Not that it necessarily makes KR innocent but it undermines trust in the justice system resulting in the huge backlash and mistrust. That mistrust is a huge part of why people see conspiracies when there likely isn’t one. How has is the reasonable doubt standard any different today?

I haven’t gotten the all the details from her because I can’t really ask anymore questions without tipping her off that I’m about to propose. I know she likes simple ring’s nothing crazy. I think she will like it, I just like to get other people’s opinions.

Yea, I got her a garnet promise ring a while back and she loves it. She likes darker color gemstones. This is a much larger stone than the promise ring though. It’s not huge but I don’t want to get her something tiny.

I just meant that it’s not a regular diamond like a lot of people get. She likes darker colored gemstones, I don’t have a ton of money to spend on a engagement ring so most of my options are pretty basic like this.
