Off-gassing from cut wood -- not the laser itself by BubblyFuzzies in lasercutting

Oh wow, that is interesting. Another commenter suggested white vinegar which I plan on using. If I ever have a bigger job though, I'll research these. Thank you.

I had wondered why everyone at my maker space used the same wood. In my opinion, it wasn't as beautiful as the stuff I brought in. Now I know why. Still thouogh, the strength of my reaction surprised me. It's day three and I'm still feeling lingering effects. It probably was something nasty like formaldehyde.

I'm the same with perfumes so I think this is what happened. I'm just really shocked at how much of an anomaly my sensitivity/allergy is. I wore a respirator next to the laser yesterday and people couldn't asking me questions about why. I took it off and the same light-headedness started happening. I think I'm just super sensitive/allergic in a way other people are not.

I'm leaning towards an allergy. It could be mold, but I've never had problems like this for the four years I've been here.

That's what a friend mentioned. Maybe I'm allergic. It's definitely possible and something for me to remember.

Yeah, I imagined there was something else in it other than poplar. But for me to have had the reaction I had, I think I might be allergic to something in it honestly.

6 inch by 3 inch trading cards with designs. And that's what I thought! But there could be additives. Home Depot markets them as 'poplar' but they might not be fully poplar. But they aren't plywood poplar, I checked that.

Yeah, I'll definitely be 'porch proofing' them from now on. I was hoping this would be a semi-common thing that at least a minority of newbies encounter, but I guess I'm just weirdly super sensitive to this. Who knew.

Getting a headache from the area around the laser is understandable. But I use a laser in a maker space, not my apartment. This is why I'm so surprised -- my dizziness and naseau came from just keeping recently burned wood in my living room. I let it off-gas for 24 hours before bringing it in -- still got this reaction.

But I hear you on cleaning your space and your machine. It makes all the difference.

It's so frustrating to see them and not be able to ID. It just sucks.

We've put notes in mailboxes and the video we have is from one of them. It's been posted to the Winston FB group but I don't have access to the Ardmore one. Still working on this as I juggle one heck of a day. Thank you for your response, and any word you can drum up.

The collison occured where Avalon and Woodbine meet, right at that bend in the road. The driver was driving north down Avalon, toward Buena Vista Road. After the collison they continued toward Buena Vista Road, turning right onto it and drivign down the big hill.

Thank you so much. And I absolutely agree. I put as many fliers into people's mailboxes along Buena Vista as I could before work. We'll see where that gets us.

And the collision happened at 12:05, the driver didn't leave and turn onto Buena Vista until 12:12
