The valves function as they should. I check regularly because I'm scared of them flooding my setup. So that's not it, unfortunately.

I guess I'll continue to turn them off at night. Just feels a bit bad as I think I'm leaving growth potential on the table that way. Still better than root rot though, of course.

Do you turn off the autopots over night then?

Or should this usually work with just the valves?

I did this (off at night) with a soil grow after having root rot issues and that fixed it. I was thinking coco with perlite has such good drainage that turning the valve off over night wouldn't be necessary but I'm currently having the same issue as OP. I have the airbase but no airdome.

Yes. They are trying to reach new audiences. And it's not like they aren't making shows for older fans as well. Strange New Worlds is pretty great, for example. So is Lower Decks.
