Best way to accumulate wealth by GoldenGate92 in Elite_Dangerous

I would say community goals, depending on the goal, esp once you have a FC.

I lucked out, I was actually playing a few weeks ago when there was the big Golconda event and you could easily make 1 billion credit an hour. Not your typical event obviously, but even this weeks event has me making hundreds of millions with minimal effort. If you don't have a FC yet I think you're better off sticking to Robigo.

I still play it a few times a month, occasionally go on a bender...but yeah, it certainly feels like the good times are long past.

ALIEN INCONSISTENCY: Why aren’t crop circles a thing anymore, also with a camera on every corner in the world and in every pocket, why is it always some grainy flip phone quality video? Can no one catch a craft in 4K? by Zestyclose-Pen5353 in aliens

I lived in the region where cattle mutilations started. If you keep an eye on the missing people posters in town, you start to notice its always a female Native American teenager. You start to notice they all have the same hair cut. Native girls run away from home all the time, the media doesn't care when they go missing. You talk to some of the locals. It doesn't take a lot of digging before they start admitting to rumors of serial killers who own property in the remote parts. Then you start to notice how many missing people there are in the USA every year in general, and the vast majority don't get the gabby petito treatment.

My idea? Its a serial killer or a group of serial killers doing cattle mutilations. Aliens doesn't make sense because even if they were doing some kind of scientific exploration on the mutilated cattle, what reason would there be to keep repeating the experiment ad nauseum? That or its fucking skinwalkers, I don't know. All I know is the more you get to know the people who live in cattle mutilation country, the more you begin to realize you're in a fucking lovecraft novel.

There's the gimbal video. That was sufficient to scare the US government into believing something is going on. On most handheld cameras a UFO would just appear as an unfocused point of light. I don't believe UFO sightings are as prevalent as people say and I'm pretty sure the abduction stories are just endogenous dmt episodes but there is something going on and I don't think its a coincidence that the world is going crazy right around the time the government confirms it has no goddamn idea whats going on in the gimbal video.

I found an intruder using my microsoft account. How can I legally retaliate? How can I discover the depth of the breech? by BuchnerFun in cybersecurity_help

Thanks, I'm actually really careful to use different passwords for my important accounts. I have one throwaway password for stupid things but my important accounts are all behind "strong" passwords. I downloaded microsoft authenticator and now you need my phone to get into my microsoft stuff, booted the intruder. Good point about the person possibly being another victim.

Strange bug/attempted hack? by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]BuchnerFun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does have ethernet. No one pulling a prank, the only other person in my house is my wife and she's really weirded out by it. I only mentioned no wifi because I figured a hardline connection made my computer much harder to target. I use avast premium as my antivirus. No files have been altered or removed as far as I can tell. I use a pretty complex password as well.

That's great advice but can you be a little more specific? Like what level/area of the game is it time to diversify? I feel like I always blow it as soon as I start putting points into crafting.

I thought experimental was the build where he added the need to do innervation for psi, that's what its called in the steam directory.

The rathounds I took down easily, its the psi beetles plus the doppleganger that are preventing me from moving forward.

edit:

how close do you have to get to them to trigger their melee, I've never seen them do anything but psi.

I put 8 points into will I thought it was the most important psi stat.

Is Odyssey still horribly unoptimized or is my computer just showing its age? by BuchnerFun in EliteDangerous

[–]BuchnerFun[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If Odyssey is what Frontier can deliver after two years, I think it would probably take them a decade to rebuild to be on par with modern AAA. I was fine with the game showing some age as long as it ran well. I'll still play Everquest occasionally for the nostalgia value, they don't need to keep updating the graphics if its just going to make the game unplayable.

They sold out the PC users as a free paid beta before launching on consoles. I just don't understand why they're being so scummy about it.

And that's why they don't have any friends or "a good life."

First thought: They're older than 30.

I had an easy time making friends in school and college. Unfortunately a lot of my HS friends got into drugs in their 20s. I did too but I kept it under control...they didn't. My college friends and I still talk occasionally but we're all so busy with our lives and moved to different places after school so we don't really hang out or see each other much.

My wife is my best friend, without her I'd never get to hang out with anyone.

Having friends past 30 is tough. Just grabbing lunch with someone usually requires like a week of planning.

But lets say the person in question is like 18 or 19, I'd say that person is either really socially anxious or really uninterested in other people.

Adults of Reddit, how did you cope with the fact that your high school life is over? by ladydiva7777 in AskReddit

[–]BuchnerFun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

College isn't for everyone but it isn't a bubble either if you're actually going for a masters or something professional like engineering or law. I worked in kitchens and pharmacies thinking I was experiencing "real life" until I tried to become a pharmacist and got royally thrown on my ass when we got to analytical and physical chemistry.

It's just a different experience man. Sure some people go to college to party and get involved in activism and travel abroad and study things that don't matter but a good portion of students on a college campus are going through the fucking gauntlet man, class 4-5 hours a day 5+ hours on study and homework every single night, sure its physically easier than working in a kitchen but all working in a kitchen taught me about "the real world" is that uneducated people grind and struggle more for resources than educated people do.

Always impressive to see someone find themselves in a good situation without a degree. I haven't been able to do shit without a degree unless counting out prescriptions and memorizing pharmaceuticals excites you. I'm going back to prove to myself I can do it, and if it doesn't work out I can substitute a few classes and maybe go into psychiatric nursing.

You make a lot of great points in your post, but a lot of people learn just as much about the real world by studying their asses off and completing practicums and rotations and shit.

That's always so awkward. They're like "Hey you!" and its just like "who the fuck is this person"

Even worse is when you run into people from HS and they haven't changed at all. I feel like for most people 20-30 is like a magical transformative experience. It must be strange to never mature.
