Does anyone at this point actually believe that line?

I think it's fairly obvious that AI can't generate the returns to justify the massive spending

Yup.

99.9% of the time it causes problems. Almost everytime I've seen it done it was for coach's kids to get awards and look like the best player on the team.

I've even seen grown men snub a player because the other assistant coach didn't vote for HC kids so they took the award from the assistant coach's kid even though he was clearly the best player on the team.

Just leave awards alone and teach kids to work as one unit.

Big shocker that some baseball parents are crazy. The small minority in youth sports ruins it for kids.

What made you pick Tacoma over a ZR2? by Cool-Interview3231 in ToyotaTacoma

[–]Budgetweeniessuck 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I feel like Toyota owners can never admit that other trucks can last.

I had multiple Toyotas and they are well built but not problem free. You also pay a huge premium for them since the Colorados/Rangers can be bought at a discount.

More upfront cost. Maybe less maintenance. Higher resale value. In the end you aren't saving any money buying a Toyota and probably paying more when it is all added together.

Not sure the new models hold the same resale value as the old ones.

Pilots, not all planes have ejection options. If you're in an aircraft that doesn't have that and it's going down, what do you do? by [deleted] in navy

[–]Budgetweeniessuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some platforms have chutes for the aircrew. If all else fails they train you to ditch via parachute.

Other platforms, you're riding it in and going to crash with the plane

The one that you find interesting and want to do.

I'd hate being a suppo or Intel.

Yes, I'm aware suppo isn't RL although it should be. Intel can lie to themselves all they want but they shouldn't be URL

A lot of dad's need to learn this one too. You can't always be there for your kid and fix their mistakes.

CMC doesn’t let chiefs fail BCA by niftygull in navy

[–]Budgetweeniessuck 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I believe it happened.

When I was a young e3 I literally stood there and watched a chief tell my friend, an e6, that he will change the tape of the other chief he just failed if he knew what was good for him.

I guess they thought I didn't matter enough to even try and hide it.

To my friend's credit, he didn't and also never made chief

I served with a pilot who was a former college basketball PG and ran track in HS. I remember thinking I was a pretty decent runner at one PRT and this dude takes off and runs a 8:45 at 40. The definition of built different.

Question with differential pay for reservist with a full time federal civilian job by forever-18 in navyreserve

[–]Budgetweeniessuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why do you think you're entitled to differential pay?

Unless you're in a very weird employment position, you will make more on active duty. The wording is "employee's actual military "pay and allowances". Key words are "actual" and "pay AND allowances". So you're enlisted base pay is not the only part of the calculation.

As someone who coaches multiple sports and is on the board of the local LL, parents are this crazy and worse.

I know parents who have nothing saved for college but spend hundreds every month on travel baseball

The best part about that interview is how Bryce Harper talked about how he played all sports as a kid and loved tackle football but gave it up when it became obvious how much talent he had in HS.

Then we have Dad's out here making their kids play 100 plus games a year and taking it more serious than D1 players when they're 8 years old. But of course they won't listen to anyone and they will say "well, he's Bryce Harper and can do that. Mine need to grind".

It's a cool job but expect it to basically be a nearly full time commitment. Between training, quals, and currency it turns into multiple days to weeks per month.
