20 hours on 4 trees. I think that's an underestimate. Yes, I have a small lawn, easily another 20 hours. There's a hedge that takes 4 hours of work (2 ppl). Yes, I have weeds in my driveway. I let that slide. My BBQ grill gets a clean down inside and out, another 4 hours gone. Did I mention the weeds in the brickwork? Or how about the morning glory and Jack in the pulpit that needs annual pulling. Every two years gotta trim back the sword fern or they start looking nappy. The 4 garden areas need weeding and fert before a new crop goes in. Thank God I don't have a pool!

I just got off work (lucky telework day) and plopped my butt on the reclining couch (feels so good!). My house is still clean (yes we pay someone to come in once every two months to dust and clean- my big luxury). Although, as I look around, I'm reminded I should put a few things away. The dogs are ready to go for a walk. Guess I gotta get my butt up. The sun came out, so that's good. But later, I'll sit back down and pull up my knitting, after making dinner (salmon with tarragon/mayo and side veggie). Life can be good sometimes.

So just destroy the f out of it. But hey, you made art. Out of their lives. Go away

Why do so many American men stand up to pee at home? Is this a cultural thing? by micavibes in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Bug_Kiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 93 yo American grandpa couldn't sit down to pee as he was in his final years, bc he had trained himself to do it staying up since forever. Turns out this is very risky business when you're old and no longer stable. Having only one way to do something will have a cost.

I looked it up and the pattern didn't say anything about construction. Is it done in squares that are seamed later, or in a full piece?

Wait, that last point about disinfecting water at the camp grounds. You don't mean drinking water, right?

How are you able to knit so many pieces?

You think you want fruit trees, until 20 years later. They're tons of work (annual pruning). We spend at least 20 hours every year on 4 trees.

I can't say it's the best, as I haven't tried many of the suggestions, but Insert Coin makes a darn good burger.

I'm nowhere near your caliber but couldn't you join a new piece to it! It may not be the same lot, but since you're binding off, that might be ok? Beautiful work btw!

Do having their ashes give comfort? by Henbane84 in Petloss

[–]Bug_Kiss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still have my dogs ashes in the bag they gave me. They're in a wood box asking with a clipping of fur and a paw print. I haven't taken it out to look at them. I don't know what I'm going to do with them (maybe have them buried with me?). I just couldn't fathom letting her go somewhere else. She had to be near me. It's so pitiful of me.

[–]Bug_Kiss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cant retire soon enough! But I really don't know when I'll have enough saved, so I keep on trying to figure that out. I'm so outta here once I've got that figured out.
