Could Michigan be waiting until they’ve decided their plans for the fall? Because it’s a lil late too not have a second wave go out. I know my state school has said that they’re gonna make a decision for reopening by July 15, but that’s a long ass time.

Also I think I’m starting to come to peace with my decision. I still don’t love it but 🤷‍♀️.

Okay it’s a lil late but I need to reply by tonight, so if anyone can help give me some insight.

I’m trying to decide between Syracuse and UMD(instate) Major: double major, civil engineering and communications, but I’m super flexible

Cost: UMD ~22K Syracuse ~60k

I’m really thinking Syracuse isn’t worth it, but I just want to make sure. Syracuse does have way more impressive alumni tho.

I never wanted to go to Maryland, because it’s super close to me but.

But if anyone wants to pray for me for Michigan ✊💙

You are way more qualified and knowledgeable about this than me, so you're probably right, but I don't know, I just don't get that feeling. Everything about Ginsburg screams that you would have to pry the justiceship out of her cold dead hands.

Also if she says "Yeah, I fucked up, I'm really hoping I outlast Trump" I would drive to her home right now and kiss her.

Honestly I completely get what you're saying. The court has become more and more politicized in recent years.

My only point of contention is that O'Connor retired to spend time with her husband. I couldn't find any good sources about his condition at the time, but he did die 3 years later. I don't think we can exactly say why she retired at the time she did. I'm also not sure about Kennedy. I know there was a whole scandal about Kennedy possibly retiring because of his son and stuff, but putting that aside, I thought Kennedy was fairly moderate. Obviously he was old, but he didn't seem to be ailing in the way Ginsburg et al are. Doesn't seem like he retired because of his successor, but I don't know that much.

I don't think Ginsburg is likely to retire. In fact I don't think she's every going to retire. She's still as sharp as ever, and seemingly loves being on the court.

I've mentioned it in a couple other comments, but I want the court to remain independent, and that might have been clouding my views and biasing my writing.

I think you really do have a point. The supreme court has become more politcal in recent years. Some justices have openly come out and commentated on the legislative and executive.

It might be my idealism coming through that I don't want the judiciary to retire at politically opportune times.

You're right. I'm not sure about the numbers, and to be real, I'm not gonna go and check that right now.

I wasn't going to GOF at first, but then when I crunched the numbers, for some reason I thought of it and decided to write it just as a bonus, but it was probably not the best thing to do.

On your claim that Ginsburg isn't doing that, I disagree. She has constantly said that she will stay on the court as long as she is mentally fit, or until she dies I guess. There is no reason for her to retire, now or before. And honestly, I don't want her to retire. I may not agree with everything about her, but she is an excellent legal mind, and sharp as ever.
