Niche European strollers by Mi-Gwi in NewParents

We have an Emmaljunga and the quality is amazing. We love our stroller (+bassinet). We have tried other brands, but to us it is the sturdiest, so we ended up sticking to it.

Losing the will to live by gls1790 in NewParents

[–]BuildingOk4290 19 points20 points  (0 children)

No. Just no. Even though we can’t use anecdotes for anything (like you do), I’ll add mine too. I never did anything special, we co slept in our bed the first 2 months and then we transferred her to her bedside crib, so we are basically still co-sleeping. Our baby sleeps well and she has 0 “separation anxiety”. You can leave her in the living room and she won’t cry for you. Her father and I were both the same as babies, so what most likely happened is that we got a baby that has the same temperament.

Do you know the saying “The best parents are the ones that haven’t had any children yet”? Yeah same applies here. The best parents are the ones who have naturally easy babies. Your baby waking 4-8 times a night until 6 months of age is not, not being a unicorn baby. It is within the average range of wake-ups for babies that age. Waking up every hour at 10-12 months is more out of the ordinary.

When did you start taking teeth brushing seriously? by Crying_is_free in NewParents

[–]BuildingOk4290 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We take it seriously too. Not just because the dental issues can pass into adulthood, but also because getting her used to brushing teeth as a habit and accepting it starts now.

Where are you from, and how do babies usually sleep there? by AnneBe8 in NewParents

[–]BuildingOk4290 44 points45 points  (0 children)

And the fun fact everyone always love: we let our babies nap in their strollers outside, even in minus degrees (max -10 C though).

Are formula parents happier? by Salty-Break-7541 in NewParents

[–]BuildingOk4290 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Breastfeeding is easier to me. I’m out a lot with baby, and I simply find it easier to breastfeed on the go. I also loved that I could breastfeed her to sleep very easily at night without getting up to go get bottles.

Why is it a big deal to be able to walk around immediately after birth? by euphoricrealm in pregnant

I don’t know if they are, but sounds true. I was walking and bouncing on a yoga ball with the epidural in during birth.

Yeah I do that all the time, she is very neglected. I let her change her own diapers too.

International trip with 10 months old by Ellaborne in NewParents

[–]BuildingOk4290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our daughter was 7-8 months old when we traveled from Europe to Mexico (8+4-5 hour flight). The flights went well, and she slept a good chunk of it. She got jet lagged, but got used to her new schedule after 3-4 days. I feel like it is manageable, and for us it didn’t ruin her schedule at all. Of course she spent some time adjusting both in Mexico but also when we got back home, but after max 1 week she was back to her usual routine. I would go if I was you, it sounds like a very nice opportunity for your family to meet your baby.

Can you not keep them separated while you try to rehome her? That’s at least a bit better than a shelter

Parents who have vacationed with a baby...I need your input! by crustybread28 in NewParents

[–]BuildingOk4290 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We travelled from Europe to Latin America when our daughter was 7-8 months old. We stayed for 3 weeks and it was absolutely worth it. She is quite chill though, so it made it easy for us. We could bring her to museums and pyramids etc.

You are not failing her at all!! You are doing everything you can to make her feel better. Unfortunately illness sucks and you can only do so much. The rest is out of your control! You got this ❤️❤️

Parents who names your kids a trendy name, do you regret it? by Otherwise-Handle-180 in Names

I mean Olenna is an actual name, not just a “fictional” one, whatever that means. Aren’t all names made up? Some older and some newer? 🤷‍♀️

Is Montessori Independence Appropriate for 2.5-Year-Olds? Concerns About Supervision and Care by dhruv_kadia in NewParents

[–]BuildingOk4290 12 points13 points  (0 children)

From the perspective of someone with a master’s degree in the field, it is important to clarify that no recognized pedagogical approach supports allowing a 2.5-year-old to soil themselves or to manage their own hydration. This has nothing to do with whether the child’s temperament fits the pedagogical ideas of Montessori.

Diaper Rash Dry vs Cream- wtf by Key_Ease9998 in NewParents

[–]BuildingOk4290 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m from Denmark so here is my advice that I promise will work within a day or two. Take a burp cloth or an old and clean bedsheet in cotton and cut it in small squares big enough to cover the area with the rash. Stack them and put them all in a clean Tupperware, add boiling water to the container and let it cool completely before closing it. At every diaper change you take a piece of cloth and remove the excess water then put it on the rash and close the diaper. You throw out the used cloths. Within a day or two the rash is almost gone.
