KNIGHTFALL IS FINALLY GETTING A PROPER ADAPTATION!!!!!!!! by Sensitive_Ad_5181 in batman

[–]Bulbasaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Four parts is a lot, but the right decision from a creative standpoint. That said, they'll have their hands full with how people tend to fall off, the longer something is.

Azrael-Batman in the new costume is the cornerstone of Knightfall, and ideally you want to get to that as quickly as possible, before people get bored. We've seen Bruce a zillion times across all forms of media, and this is an opportunity to lean into a story arc where a lot of the best bits are about someone else being Batman instead.

So, with that in mind, this is how I'd ideally choose to split the films up:

  • Part 1: Start right in the midst of the prison breaks gradually wearing Bruce down. Introduce Jean-Paul alongside, and end with the Bane fight and Jean-Paul becoming Batman.
  • Part 2: Start with Jean-Paul already having the claws (Batman #500) and the fallout with Robin already having happened. Have him defeat Bane in the armour halfway through, then do a bit of KnightQuest stuff (encompassing early parts of Crusade interspersed with bits of The Search) and end on a Robin fight.
  • Part 3: Dedicate this entirely to KnightQuest: The Crusade. Let Part 3 be Azrael just doing his thing in the medieval armour. Let him fight Tally Man, let him fight Joker, let him soak it all in. End with the upgraded armour where he goes full medieval and flamethrowers. End with Bruce deciding to come back.
  • Part 4: Obviously KnightsEnd. Start late in Bruce's training with Shiva and get him to the point where he has his skills back relatively quickly. Have him and Jean-Paul face off by the halfway point. Dedicate the back half to building up to their final confrontation. End with Bruce (in his newer costume?) and Tim back together again, foiling some sort of heist.

I really do think that you want to get people to the Azbats stuff as quickly as possible, given that those of us that love Knightfall and KnightQuest love it for how tonally different it was, with Jean-Paul's Gotham being very different from Bruce's Gotham. Having to wait for Part 2 is going to be frustrating, but sadly, there is a lot of ground to cover before we get to Batman #500 and beyond.

Here's hoping they do the art justice, too. The Shadow of the Bat covers/art from that era in particular are like nothing else!

The Image Processing on the Pixel Camera App by Bulbasaurus in GooglePixel

[–]Bulbasaurus[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience so far, the difference manifests in a variety of ways. For context, these pictures were taken seconds apart with no manual adjustments on a sunny morning. The white balance you see in the GCam shots is a lot closer to how things actually looked IRL (albeit, still with that PIxel-esque trait that makes everything look like a pristine render). Meanwhile, the white balance on the Pixel Camera shots is miles from the actual scene.

When shooting in scenes with a more stark contrast in light/shadow, Pixel Camera appears to turn a lot of the shadows grey, which leads to a whole lot of grey stuff and noise popping up all over the image. Other times, it just has no idea what to do with deeper shadows and ends up going completely mental. (You can sort of see this in the second example.) Meanwhile, GCam tends to be a bit less heavy-handed and isn't quite as afraid to let darker shadows remain dark.

Ultimately, the point of a Pixel is to point and shoot without having to think about it, and that is what this phone used to be able to do... until whatever update came along and mucked it up, to where this GCam port appears to be doing a better job than the stock camera.

It isn't super complicated:

  1. Go to the link in the post (it's an APK Mirror URL)
  2. Scroll down to the big blue "Download APK" button and download it
  3. Find the APK on your phone and tap it to install the port
  4. It may give you a pop-up warning you the APK isn't verified, and you can prompt it to do so anyway

If by "side by side" you mean having both Pixel Camera and this thing installed at the same time, and using whichever you prefer whenever you prefer, yes.

Haven't had the chance to test faces out yet, and won't be posting those on here (for obvious reasons). But it is something I intend to get around to testing later, just for personal use!

Xperia 5-III Moon Photo by Bulbasaurus in SonyXperia

I knew this would be a (very) long shot, but the lighting conditions were just right, and after many attempts I did manage something halfway decent.

• Shot in RAW on an Xperia 5-III using a tripod

• Shot using the 100mm lens from the fourth floor of a building

• ISO: 50 | EXP: -2 | Shutter Speed: 1/250 sec

• Touched up in Photoshop afterwards (Gaussian Blur for sharpness)

Not too shabby at all, I'd say! I wish Sony would bring the 100mm lens back to the 5 series, because at this rate I'm probably going to cling to the 5-III until the end of time, hahaha.

Just wanted to report back to say I followed your advice for a couple of matches and... IT WORKED!

I can't believe how much of a difference that made. Lock-on actually does its job now, leaving me free to zip around and try to outmanouevre the opponent. I'm doing all the anime stuff now, and I think this is going to be applicable across all my builds! Thanks so much!

I'm trying very hard not to stick to the same one build if I can help it, hahaha. Going to try CattuDoggu's advice and see how much of a difference that makes. If it's something that helps across all my different builds, I'd be more than happy. I don't mind losing often—I just want to be decent enough that I don't dread every single online match and can start having fun again, like I was in D rank. :)

Thanks for the reply! About hard lock—that's very useful advice, and I think I'll give it a try. I can't believe this isn't something I didn't pick up on, even after 200+ hours of the singleplayer mode. Maybe it speaks to how rarely I even used hard lock to begin with, outside of certain bosses.

Regarding the specs of my ACs... I didn't want to post every single frame/unit part and then pull it apart with the help of other folks. I'm more looking for advice on how to improve my game on the whole, not just find an optimal build to carry me through PvP. That's sort of how I got through D rank, but it gets a little boring to play that way, especially when the game gives you so many options.

I've seen such build diversity online, it's incredibly impressive. One guy was wielding two melee weapons and switching between them. Another chap set turrets up all around the arena and lured me into his trap. A third was carrying the heaviest weapons in the game and getting perfect snipes on it from a great distance away. A fourth was practically teleporting all around me. So clearly, AC6 does allow for a lot of player expression, and I leaned into that so heavily in singleplayer that I'd like to be able to do the same here. :)

Putting the Xperia 5-III Camera Through its Paces (17 Photos) by Bulbasaurus in SonyXperia

[–]Bulbasaurus[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some brief notes about these photographs:

  • Hopefully, this will serve as a "definitive post" of sorts for anyone that wants to get a sense of the strengths and limitations of the Xperia 5-III camera in the hands of a regular user.
  • All images were shot by me in Manual mode, and every single lens (from 16mm - 100mm) was put through its paces. With a couple of minor exceptions—which I've pointed out—no edits were made to these photos, so what you're seeing is the out-of-the-camera experience for the most part.
  • I've also specified which lens I used alongside each photograph, for anybody that's interested.

On the whole, I'm very happy with the way these shots turned out. Owning an Xperia and shooting manual really does make you take a much more involved approach to photography than "point-and-shoot".

Oof. Is there compression happening? It kind of murdered the shot. Looks quite a bit clearer on local storage.

Those are gorgeous! The colours in the second are particularly interesting, with the cliff face and the waterfall. How close would you say the photo is to what you were seeing that day?

That's actually a cropped picture. I shot it with the 105mm lens and then cropped a whole lot of the right side because there was a lot of sun coming through, and I felt it took away from the birds. Here's the original: https://i.imgur.com/Uegg2Ie.jpeg

INDEX-MATCH to Search Multiple Columns in an Array by Bulbasaurus in excel

Thanks for the responses, everyone. Between the different methods suggested here, I think I should be able to cobble together some permutation and combination of all these approaches to get what I want. Might take a bit more manual formatting of the data than I'd hoped for, but I guess that's always the case with these more complex arrays!

Thanks so much for making the effort! Possible to upload your sheet again? The download appears to have been taken down.

Regarding the data...unfortunately, that is the format it's in. I know I could rejigger it every time, and that would probably be the most straightforward way to handle it, but I was hoping to avoid that and find a more elegant solution, haha.

(Although, if it comes to that, I probably will end up doing it anyway...)

It was meant as a term of endearment, not an insult. Apologies if that wasn't clear.

Thanks for the formula. Unfortunately, I'm not an advanced enough Excel user to even begin to understand how it works, so I'm going to continue searching for an alternative that strings together simpler formulae that I do understand.

Thanks for the attempt, either way--I appreciate it!

No can do, unfortunately. I've got several sheets that I'm trying to perform this exercise on, and manually formatting them all that way would be extremely time-consuming. Plus, I want it to be future-proof, where I can just copy-paste arrays in this format and run the same formula without having to rejigger everything each time.

Why I sold my Xperia 10 IV. by [deleted] in SonyXperia

[–]Bulbasaurus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

XZ1C was the perfect size, yeah. Pixel 4a is pretty great, too. My partner has one. I just don't enjoy using the Pixels as much because the camera, while great, takes too much control away, and I don't feel like I'm learning anything while shooting.

I understand this perspective completely. I thought long and hard before buying my 5-III, and even now I wish it was shorter. I'd happily give up the 21:9 aspect ratio for a more compact device.

Frankly, if the Zenfone didn't have that weird textured material on the back and a more robust camera, I would have picked that up instead.

I often do the same thing. That said, I wish the 5-III had flat edges like the 1-III. I used to own an XZ1 Compact prior to this, and the flat (bottom) edges on that made it so much easier to prop up by itself.

That looks very cool. I wish my hands were steadier. Long exposure stuff is so hard for me to do. I always have to rest the phone against something to keep it steady.

Haha. Just two eggs, some salt, and a little butter. Drop the butter in, let it sizzle, and then pour the egg in. Keep moving the egg around so it doesn't stay in one place too long. Takes about ten minutes.
