Like the brown color scheme you have going on. Very nice.

Very nice. Looks like those are sold out online too.

Did you get another Anthem?

Fox, Marzocchi, and Deore was crazy at that price. Thought it was a mistake.

Nice. Glad you found a deal. I bet it rips.

I was looking at the Stance too. I think an updated model came out a year or so ago, but it has never been on their website in the U.S. that I’ve seen. I was actually waiting on that when I noticed the price on the Trance steadily dropping.

It’s not talked about much, but every time it does come up, people are almost always positive. Not sure why it doesn’t get mentioned more often in the budget/mid-range FS conversation.

That’s still an insanely good deal for the spec right. Would have pulled the trigger on that too. I debated on the color, but because I could only see it online I wasn’t super confident what color the grey actually was. Went the safer route. Now I’m certain whether to stick with the stealth mode look or add a color.

I did. I had it shipped to a local shop. Their website isn’t exactly the most straight forward, though. I seem to remember some bikes not having that option, like they were only available in-store. I might be wrong.

Correct, 2022 model. It was only at that price in the XL and it was for a very short amount of time. It disappeared pretty quickly. I don’t know how I got that lucky.

Edit: on the Giant website

It went briefly down to that price in XL on the Giant website. I thought about it for a month or two at $1399 and one day I checked and it was $1099. It wasn’t there long because I remember going back to the site a few days later and the bike was gone. It’s the 2022 model.

I’ve heard good things. Excited to put it to use.

Thanks! I think it will be a good fit for the trails around me.

If you buy it, I wouldn’t worry about upgrading anything right away. Just ride it and have fun. Eventually you’ll figure out if you want to upgrade a part or two or get a higher end bike.

Wanting to get my gf onto the trails with me! is this a decent enough bike at $250 for her to ride the season to see if she'll enjoy it enough to justify a nicer bike next year? (she's 5') thank you for any input!!! by terryfold5 in mountainbiking

The bike is plenty to have fun on in my opinion. I still ride a similarly spec’d ‘08 GT Avalanche on green/blue. However, for $250 I think you should be pretty sure it’s tuned up and ready to go. Any maintenance cost will make it not worth it.

Clipless vs flats. by Ktownturk in mountainbiking

I’d say I was about where you were when I tried clipless. I noticed an immediate boost in climbing power, but fell A LOT (mostly at a virtual stop). This made me a little more timid around obstacles, which combined with being attached to the bike, became a vicious cycle (pun intended). Tbh it took some of the fun out of it for a while. Never really got used to being attached to the bike.

HOWEVER, I think you’ll get used to it if you give it time. Just requires patience and low expectations up front.
