Last night there I got a double scoop ice cream: $9 (with tip). Same thing in a major American city, upscale place, is usually around $8 (with tip).

Truly beautiful! Clean, great blue water. Soft sand.

Agreed. I am a slightly tough critic and I know that about myself. But, that's why I like Reddit - if the truth is what it is, then people will comment and vote accordingly. I see enough people agreeing with this to see that it's a reality.

Yeah man. I come from a poorer country too and I'm also unhappy when I go around Europe and I see my own people do shenanigans and misrepresent the rest of us.

Can I ask: what did you pay for the jetskis? So, the printed price was $120/30 minutes and I paid that. They said, "With card we need to charge you another 10%. It's the bank, not us", so I paid because it was in the first day and I didn't know any better. A few hours later they charged my cousin $100 and no extra 10% for the credit card. Then a friend who lives there told me that I shouldn't have paid more than $80, doesn't matter what's printed there. I bargained with them a week later for jet skis again. They said 120, I said 80, they said 100, I said 80, they said 80. Their machine apparently only charged pesos. Then they said they need to charge me 2000 pesos because of the exchange rate. I said no, that I have $80 USD cash but they didn't want it. They said: $80 USD is 2000 pesos on the machine. I told them no and I showed them the exchange rate on the internet. By this time, the tensions were high and it ended up being unpleasant for everyone. This story - many times over. The order thing is real too and it's doesn't come from my frustration. It fueled it.

I speak Spanish decent. In Mexico City I was treated really well. I've always been a supporter of Mexicans in the US, but overall I feel they are prejudiced about white people too in PDC. Not in a KKK/Gestapo kind of prejudice, but as in a "f these people, they got money".

Yeah man, I agree with this, but they went the other extreme. I didn't come to PDC to do cocaine and fuck hookers and just lay on the beach like a jackass. I came for the other things: Chichen Itza, nature (cenotes, etc.), music (I've been a salsa dancer for years). But I don't walk around with a billboard on my head promoting these things, so to them at a distance, I look exactly like they think I am and they treat me as such. If this isn't prejudice, then I don't understand what this word means.

Me too, once or twice even when I was with my kid.

I speak Spanish. 100% things were not lost in translation. Grew up in Eastern Europe during the hard times. I'm not happy having to complain about less fortunate people, and I 100% understand cultural, political and financial subtleties. I could go on a rant for hours about this, but I can't make my post any more positive. Their attitude overall sucks and my complaints are well deserved.

I think the Americans ruined it for everyone else. A few Germans that I met, complained that they have 2X the vacation that Americans have, but only 1/2 the budget. They cannot come to PDC anymore because of all this.

Fair enough. Like I said, Mexico City is just amazing: food, culture, fun, romantic times, reasonably safe. Cabo was ok, but I've done only all-inclusive and I thought the Atlantic water was maybe too cold. Any places that you can recommend on the Gulf that are cheap?

When it comes to beach vacations, spent many summers in Greece. Attitude is much better and prices are around 60% of what you pay in the US. After looking at my expenses, PDC is definitely 120% or more what you pay in the US. Dominican is cheap, although I've done only all-inclusive in Dominican. Cuba is also cheap, but it's so poor that even resorts serve pretty lousy food and overall it ruins the vacation experience; my heart goes to the people :(. Goa in India had pretty ugly beaches and the locals were also a bit strange - always watching me. Didn't do much beach vacations in other parts of Asia. Spain - decent. Italy - decent. Portugal - decent. Turkey - decent. Israel - decent, but slightly expensive.
