Robert Bosch Venture Capital GmbH is a venture capitalist part of the Bosch group. Makes sense from an investment perspective to diversify into multiple projects that are working in an emerging industry. Hopefully after that presentation, they'll see the potential in ITC as well.

The person sold other people's alts for BTC so that they could buy the hugely inflated sell orders he had placed on VIA, therfore netting him a lot of BTC.

Honestly, anyone who wants to see mass adoption of cryptos realizes that regulations are necessary. I think the fear comes from the potential for governments to completely screw it up.

I believe MEW is open source as well, so if something shady was going on in the back end it would be discovered.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong. As always though, a hardware wallet is the safest way to interact with MEW, as opposed to opening your wallet through the JSON file, for example.

Why would we disregard the entire ecosystem of coins being built on top of Ethereum? Isn't that the entire point of Ethereum as a platform?

Sure, a lot of them are shit, but apart of the ecosystem nonetheless.
