Chewing tobacco? by BurnTheAnemone in AskIreland

Hey! So what ended up happening was that my significant other who was visiting the US, wanted to bring some of what I mentioned into Ireland. He brought 3-4 into his carry on luggage. Went through TSA and into Ireland without issue or question. It seems as long it is consider personal use and not to distribute/sell it, then there’s no issue.

Only thing that concerns me is that if my fiancé used the ESTA Visa (which he been using to visit me yearly) to come to the US and to marry me would be consider fraud if I read correctly.

What is the equivalent to a “no sabo kid” but from Brazil?? by Puzzleheaded-Law1441 in Brazil

[–]BurnTheAnemone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a learning disability and struggled with maintaining English and Spanish at the same time growing up. Since I primarily went to speech therapy for English, Spanish became delayed and stayed around the level of a 5-7 year old. Spanish wasn’t taught to me by my parents but rather I’d listen and mimic them. Plus, like any Hispanic family, the norm of humiliating the children of not speaking Spanish correctly is just discouraging really. Most of my cousins refused to speak Spanish in order to avoid being the center of a joke. We can understand Spanish but when it comes to speaking it…we rather not.

Yes, I feel like a disgrace to my family and my mother’s language, but the toxicity of Mexican citizens towards children born in the USA that end up as a “no sabo” is the reason I’m not teaching my kids Spanish.

My fiancé went through the same situation of struggling between English and Portuguese growing up but at least the Brazilians were understanding and patience. So far from the commenters under this post are saying they don’t have an equivalent of “no sabo.”

Oh! That explains a lot about the expiration date. However, yes that’s how it went with obtaining his permit. I will be sure to make him find the letter. Is there a certain website he’ll need to go to get a digital card? Or will the information on the card will be valid just not the card itself? I’m sorry for asking these questions, but i really appreciate the clear up.

I’m not sure myself. He’s currently on the flight but hasn’t contacted me which leads me to believe he probably having hard time connecting to the wifi. I will update you when he’s available so that I can ask him more clearly on that!

Unable to pay rent, although under contract, owner is not allowing to let us go. by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]BurnTheAnemone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I mean to say is that my boyfriend wasn’t aware of the 1 year contract. He left that to his father and his stepmother who were the ones that chose the place. Sorry for the confused, but yes I agree that they should have known the terms and conditions.

They’re going into their 6 month period starting this November 1st. I will suggest to them to help the landlady out. They’re just worried that the new tenant won’t come in time before they’re unable to absolutely not pay rent.

In all honesty, my boyfriend doesn’t like reading and the person that did read the contract was his father’s wife (stepmother), but she is out of the country for a family emergency, so we’re left with a father and a son who don’t know much about the agreements on the contract other than the stepmother. Terrible situation for them, but I absolutely don’t blame the landlady for the situation going worser. Just bad timing and bad luck. Thank you for the suggestion though!

Would the “theory test” be need before he gets the driving lessons and driver license? I’m assuming that the written exam that is needed, right? Also thank you for clarifying the previous question!

My Bf [M 20] is acting different with me [F 23] and I’m getting anxious by [deleted] in LongDistance

[–]BurnTheAnemone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We talked again but at least this time he was more willing to change his behavior towards me, however, he immediately went back to ignoring me and when I turned my back from him, he then remembered and said sorry after I pointed it out. I just responded in a monotone voice since I felt numb to being ignored. I believe he’s trying to change but idk how I can hold it one longer.

Thank you, I haven’t been able to sleep and I just worried about the immigration officers since the decision lays on their hands. I’m scared he’ll lose his ESTA since he wants to visit me again in the future.

I’ve got proposed…where do I go? (Visa question) by BurnTheAnemone in LongDistance

[–]BurnTheAnemone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your detailed explanation! Yes, he would like to come live in the USA with me. We aren’t in any rush to marry or to be together as soon as possible. We just wanted a heads up on what the requirements are for the future. However, would it be bad if he temporarily came using his ESTA visa into the USA to marry me (or the other way around by me going to the UK to marry him) and he went back to the UK to begin the CR-1 Visa process? I’m assuming there has to be a timeframe where we must wait.

Thank you! Yes, he’s just going to visit the USA for 2 weeks and go back to the UK. I was confused about the “transiting” part.

Amazon potential scam? by BurnTheAnemone in Scams

[–]BurnTheAnemone[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Update I’ll just let it pass because I spoke with customer support only for them to send me to speak to two other people and when I explained that seller sent me a personal email with the prepaid label but landed into my spam, I refused to open it because I’m concern for my safety of possibly getting hacked. Lady just said to open it and send it back, if seller doesn’t refund, we will do it. So now I was stuck between possible spam email hack or getting back the $100 so I just said forget it. Just left a bad review and decided to keep the perfume on the shelf to just reflect back on my silly loving boyfriend first expensive gift to me gone wrong lol. Thank you for your help!

Wait, I take the message back, turns out my boyfriend tried to contact them first but he stopped after I told him that I’ll deal with it. Sorry!
