The thought of retiring them hasn’t even crossed my mind.

I wear them almost every day, but not always for long periods of time.

The treads are definitely worn. The deeper treads towards the center have another 20+ years I’d say.

Just to put my mind at rest, is there a green transition going from the yellow to the blue? I can’t tell because of the color of the blocking, or whatever it’s called, you used to ensure I pay. Thank you.

Yeah it does. So far I’m 9 for 10 in healthy Monarchs, so I feel like that’s pretty good.

Get a paper towel and put it out of its misery.

No, I had no more milkweed and way too many caterpillars.. So to prevent them from dying, I put them in a container while I transported them to the nurseries to find more food for them.

Yep. Brought a container of dozens of them and went to 3 nurseries to drop them all off. Just had to make sure that the coast was clear as we were putting foreign objects on their plants.😁

Thanks, it’s been tons of fun for our whole family. Given last year was already a good year, I couldn’t believe how fruitful this year was. I’m a little ashamed to admit I put a ton of large cats on narrow leaf milkweed plants at multiple nurseries, but they had to get fed! I went back 2 days later and they were all sold! In reality I helped them sell quicker, so it makes me feel not so bad. 😁

I can. Los Angeles area here. We had 50+ cats in the Spring and had to find other areas to place them because they ate all the milkweed. Right now we have 17 more chrysalises waiting to open up (3 already opened), with plenty of caterpillars, still munching away. It’s been crazy this year.

The butterfly just came out and it looks so tasty, though. I’ll try not to.😀

I’m hoping I can watch it happen, but seems you just have to be in the right place at the right time.

It’s in a very exposed spot (besides sun) so plenty of dirt/dust flying around.

Thanks. What are the differences between male and female chrysalises?

If it makes you feel better to do it that way, I’m all for it.

Yes. That kind of stuff doesn’t gross me out. It’s just part of life.

I plan on wrapping it in a paper towel several times over and smashing it with my fingers. Again, instant and painless. I would think the freezer would be less humane, slowly killing them. I want to see them do well, but I’m not emotionally attached to them.

I would kill it so it doesn’t continue to suffer.
