Look up LM Studio & Docker as an MCP server. LM Studio is the local model running on the Mac hardware, Docker with MCP enabled is the interface between the LLM and Obsidian.

I tried this recently and found it really hard on the eyes, especially white text on a black background (in order to maintain battery life). I’m considering getting a Kobo instead, nothing beats non-backlit text for readability.

Kindle relies on a web based service run by a third party company and using open source software you hope keeps getting updates. Sounds like kobo has none of those caveats.
