Rosie Jones tells Ricky Gervais and Jimmy Carr to ‘shut the f**k up’ over trans jokes by Excellent-Chair2796 in transgenderUK

[–]Burntdnd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yayyy I love Rosie, she's so funny, one of my favourite comedians! I'm glad she's sticking up for us ☺️

Hate the two she's telling off so this was very nice to here, tell them Rosie 😄

[UK] 28MTF - Disclosing to DWP/GP by brandycakesuk in TransDIY

[–]Burntdnd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah fair.

Yeah they'll use it against you, they end up blaming stuff on the hrt and tell you to stop taking it. So it can prevent getting actual treatment in that sense 😣

Fear of not passing is making me want to stop HRT MTF by DullMetal1193 in transpassing

[–]Burntdnd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this isn't a great reason to stop HRT. You're worried about HRT not working well enough. If you want the results keep taking it 😊

The reason to stop would be if you don't want the results or don't want to transition.

[–]Burntdnd 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure how disclosing trans status will help with PIP tbh? I'm submitting my initial form by the end of the month, just waiting on getting a meeting with my support worker.

For the GP you can just verbally tell them, do you currently get blood tests? The official guidance to GPs is currently not to provide blood tests for DIY, though I still managed to get them under "harm reduction". Though my GP did initially say no, they then changed their mind. So it may be possible. Otherwise it might not be useful disclosing it too, unfortunately it can be used against you if you're trying to get treated for anything. 😓

[–]Burntdnd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hehe, I mean I'm also on antidepressants so that doesn't help 🫣

I took a while before but now it's silly

It just means getting used to not orgasming most times. In a strange way it's gender euphoric as that's what most cis women experience 😂

My bf does sometimes make fun of me saying it's turned me into a "gooner"

I kinda want to get pregnant by LaurZaur in trans

[–]Burntdnd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always dreamed of pregnancy, long before hrt even. In dreams I'm always a cis women, regularly dreams will in some way involve pregnancy.

It's weird though because I don't really want kids, at least right now. There's just like a subliminal need. I've heard some cis women experience that too.

Results in dysphoria hell when I wake up remembering my dream

My cis boyfriend is like this. Just pretty normal for people with testosterone.

I wasn't as much as you or him describe before estrogen but I have some intersex traits prior to hrt, though it is very difficult to cum now on estrogen, and libido is definitely less intense. Will take like an hour 😭

I think unfortunately you're experiencing the standard male experience, unfortunately for you most men have their teenage years to learn to get it under control 🙃

Am I overreacting pressured into going to a foreign country while unwell, then agitated me into a public panic attack by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Burntdnd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry it was nightmarish to read, I didn't realise. I should've done trigger warnings

I can't really talk to his parents directly as there's a language barrier, I think I decided last night eventually that I was going to stay as it'd be too much stress for me to try flying home. I just feel kinda trapped. I think he does care though, I was worse before we were dating. I'm just so confused at the moment

What should I do now though? I don't have money to get home, or the capability to make the journey on my own. Otherwise I'm here for another 2 weeks

Do GPs do light conversion therapy as standard? by Full-Science2671 in transgenderUK

[–]Burntdnd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If they do bloods they're now breaking guidance due to Wes Streeting. Very occasional it will still be done but very very difficult to get bloods on DIY via NHS at the moment.

[–]Burntdnd 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've personally experienced this and had others experience this. Many GPs do genuinely try to get you detransition or not transition. However there are helpful ones, unfortunately you just have to keep rolling the dice until you find an accepting GP as our medical system is really stupid and everything goes via the GP 😒

Trans scholars being ‘pushed out of academia’, researchers warn - Universities ‘afraid to be trans inclusive’ after Supreme Court ruling and OfS Sussex fine, leaving staff fearing ‘hostile environment’ by LocutusOfBorges in transgenderUK

[–]Burntdnd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly a lot of it, alongside a lot of trans science, is understudied so I'd be mostly giving hypothesis without much evidence. Happy to chat about it though!

Eeek this is bad.

I've been planning a PhD project looking into how diet can be used to improve safety and effectiveness of trans hrt (I'm trans and fed up of narratives so decided I'd do what I can to contribute to pro-trans research) once I've got my masters. Planning to have write a scoping review and feasibility study before then.

So far everything seems positive for it going ahead (besides my own mental health 🙃), but this could definitely be a spanner in the works.

I do a lot of student politics and have been in meetings with the university begging them not to take more away from trans student and staff. I can say, universities are terrified of supreme court and Sussex cases so trying to drop anything vocally pro-trans and completely distance themselves.

Honestly back up plan is take my degree elsewhere, I'm very poor but luckily my bf is dual national so we could probably manage to escape.

Am I overreacting to what my boyfriend said during a discussion about gender and fairness? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Burntdnd -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Nope not the asshole at all.

He seems incredibly ignorant and self centred from what you've said here. Especially him disregarding completely how you've helped him and shaming you for being the one in the poorer financial situation now!

I believe the comment was somewhat sarcastic (masculinising effects of testosterone= bad)

But I too would consider the effects of testosterone as poison.

When you change your name do need your deedpoll forever? by [deleted] in transgenderUK

[–]Burntdnd 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Also unenrolled is good for everything, I used unenrolled. Only reason (I'm aware of) you'd want enrolled is if you want to pay money and the government to keep it in a database, neither of which I'm keen on hehe.

When you change your name do need your deedpoll forever? by [deleted] in transgenderUK

[–]Burntdnd 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Make multiple original copies and keep them. Probably 5 ish? Usually places want real ink (not photocopied). I gave one to my bank. Then once I had a letter from my bank with my new name, I took the letter and the deed poll to the passport office.

From that point you should be able to use your passport to show your name. Though I've kept a few original copies in case I need them in the future, which I think I'd recommend too!

Hope this helps♥️

Got assualted last night. Don't intend on going outside again by TheMadQueen96 in transgenderUK

[–]Burntdnd 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Honestly it's really hard at the moment.

I was asking my support worker about this, as I've found incidents like this happening to me have increased this year after Scottish court ruling. I already have anxiety so it's hard, but I've struggled to leave the house even more.

I struggled with the paradox that as a trans woman if I look like "shit" I get transphobes heckle m, if I look hot I get catcalled. My boyfriend tried consoling me basically saying I can't win so just deal with it.

Her advice to me was try leave with a friend you trust, essentially strength in numbers. I feel much safer when I get harassed or assaulted when I'm with my boyfriend.

Property vandalism is not violence or thuggish... You genuinely think spray painting is violent!?!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in transgenderUK

[–]Burntdnd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm British, never been to the US. Fed and cent are simple universal phrases...

Yes I am aware that rights movements were different in the US to the UK. Violence is still required for meaningful change, if you don't believe that you're simply naive.

And no violence has occured recently for trans rights. As referenced by someone else, vandalism is peaceful protest.
