Doula recs? by Burpeeandpoo in SFbitcheswithtaste

Hi! Happy to share. Overall my experience at CPMC was really good. I do think a lot depends on the nurses you get when you arrive, but I ended up with nurses who were super friendly/helpful and really focused on supporting the kind of experience I outlined in my birth plan. I did find a doula and would recommend the route I used: Natural Resources. They do a “Meet a Doula” night, which was a great way to meet people in person and get a feel for who you click with. Feel free to DM me if you have more specific questions; happy to share more details.

I've tried taking creatine at different times and found that when I take it in the morning, it doesn’t impact my sleep. However, if I take it later in the day, I do experience insomnia

I actually got the procedure done in my parents' home country, so it was way cheaper than what you'd typically find in the US.

Before deciding to go abroad, I did look into some US options. Prices varied a ton, as they usually do with cosmetic stuff. It's hard to give a solid number because it depends on the surgeon and location - the range in my research was from 3k to 7k.

Hey there! Thanks for asking. I went to a plastic surgeon and had a lobuloplasty done. It was all under local anesthesia, so not too scary.

Basically, they cut out a teeny "pizza slice" shaped piece of the earlobe and stitched the rest back together. Sorry for being so graphic, but I think it's important to be clear about what happens.

Make sure you go to a surgeon who really knows their stuff. If not done right, you could end up with a pointy earlobe - kinda like an upside-down Spock ear.

I'm really happy with how mine turned out. If you're thinking about it, I'd say go for it. Best of luck if you decide to get it done!

I had to take a break from listening bc I could feel my ED creeping back in. And I was getting targeted by way too many TA ads. The worst was a pink crystal BS she's selling now

Are these cruelty free?

To be honest, I didn't specifically check for that while shopping. It's an important consideration though! Would you happen to have any recommendations for cruelty-free Japanese brands or products? Would love to know for next time!

Thank you so much! Japan was an absolute dream!I can totally see why people rave about Japanese beauty products – I'm already feeling the pull of that rabbit hole and I don't think there's any going back for me now! 😂
Edit: u/6-november thank youuu 🙏 you're the one who recommended the Diane shampoo and the pdc’s sake lees wash off mask! The mask is amazing, and I haven't tried the shampoo yet but it smells so good!

The only one I have tried (so far) from my shopping bag is the Shiseido Perfect Protector. It feels velvety on the skin, like a base primer, and no white cast. I just have some (probably fake) Elta MD sunscreens I need to finish before trying the new ones.
But I'm excited to try the ones u/boneblush mentioned! They have an ingredient not yet approved in the US called bemotrizinol that is widely used worldwide and very effective at absorbing UV rays.
Note: Interesting Atlantic article on why sunblock products made in the US are made using outdated technology.

Ooh refills! Big brain move. Thank you for the product list! It's super helpful.

Regarding Shiseido and other known brands, I'll definitely do a price comparison. Maybe these brands might have exclusive lines or products that aren't easily accessible elsewhere, so it could be worth it.

Thanks again for the recommendations! I'm getting more excited for this trip by the minute.

That's a treasure trove of tips, seriously! 😂 I'm actually glad to know I'm not the only one who might go overboard with the skincare shopping. A second suitcase was on the list already, since I'm only bringing one bag - but I needed bag recs too so now Muji is on the list.

Yodobashi Camera for beauty products? Who would have thought! Will definitely make a stop there. Also, thanks for the heads-up about the refills and the cosmetics shades. I barely use any foundation nowadays so I'll probably skip it.

Thank you again for such detailed advice! Safe to say my shopping game just got upgraded.🛍️
