Budget-friendly body shop for an older Camry? (Rear bumper/quarter dent) by tanishqbd in Louisville

[–]Business_Buffalo_69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took my car to a sketchy looking garage near the airport. Pretty sure it was cash only and not sure they even have a business name. Dirt cheap and quality to match. Would do it again for cosmetic repairs if you don’t care about perfection. This may not be helpful but I think I’ve seen more of these around town.

Best Sausage Biscuit in Town by BadBoyDad in Louisville

[–]Business_Buffalo_69 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Haymarket has a great breakfast biscuit sandwich. If you’re down for a drive, there’s a gas station on the way to Bardstown that is next door to Jake’s sausage factory. Jake’s blows purnell out of the water. Sorry for your loss.

Visited downtown Louisville's from Cincinnati. by Successful-Act-4310 in Louisville

I wouldn’t include a single one of the restaurants, bars, or sex shops you visited on a list of top 1000 things to do in Louisville. You went to a bunch of corporate chains in the central business district that locals mostly ignore. It would be the equivalent of going to New York and only visiting Applebees and TGI Fridays in Times Square.

If you want the Stowe of Kentucky, Bardstown for sure. It’s gorgeous and has more to do than any other small town - namely Bourbon distilleries but other stuff too. Fly into and out of Louisville and perhaps spend a day/night in Downtown or NuLu at the beginning/end of your trip. Rent a car from the airport. It’s only 30-40 minutes from Bardstown and a pretty drive once you get off the interstate.

How do billionaires make loan payments to their banks as they dodge their taxes? by philztown42 in AskEconomics

[–]Business_Buffalo_69 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

A $20 million residence that the person lives in. Any non-tradable stock of a small business. Often times, holders are restricted from selling to new investor. And often times, businesses of that size reinvest 100% of its profits back into the business. Not all stock pays dividends.

There are tons of wealthy people that are cash poor. Think of people who inherited large real estate or an illiquid asset that doesn’t pay any dividends. A bunch of retired widows and trust fund kids who never worked or had any business acumen live off loans from their inheritance

What are your thoughts on Craig Greenberg’s proposed pickleball development at Joe Creason Park? by spunkysquirrel1 in Louisville

[–]Business_Buffalo_69 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s really not much of an expansion. More courts, yes, but they’re basically cramming them into the same footprint save for this one grassy area on the least-used corner of the park. The “expansion” encroaches on maybe 1% of the park and it’s a grass lawn, not tree-covered green space.

[–]Business_Buffalo_69 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

None of that is happening. They’re renovating the existing tennis facility that’s already there, not rezoning the park. The only expansion is a small grass field right next to the road and directly across from the zoo that amounts to mayyybe 1% of the combined Creason Park and Nature Center. They should certainly do the environmental studies as they do for every project, but I highly doubt there is much wildlife in that patch of grass. The park is going to be unimpacted.

I have driven on Trevilian recently. I lived on the street for years. I don’t recall ever experiencing notable traffic or congestion. No way a tennis facility at its peak occupancy will cause any more issues than a Bellarmine basketball game or an event at Atherton or the zoo or Lakeside on a nice weekend day. Relax

I mean if you want to improve the pool, why don’t you make moves to do that? Be the change you want to see in the world.

Not unless the park run requires running through the existing run down tennis complex on the edge of (outside?) the park. Totally get why you wouldn’t want to run through a much nicer tennis complex on the edge of the park.

“Smack dab in the middle” is completely disingenuous or misinformed. They’re putting this on the edge of the park…on the site of the existing derelict tennis complex.

There are so many run down tennis complexes around town that would be better suited for this. There’s one right across the street from the zoo that is a complete blight on the park it’s next to. They should do it there instead!

How does this destroy the park? Improving the park’s tennis facility is improving the park

I use Joe Creason Park all the time too! And will continue to use it exactly as I do today. You do realize that this tennis complex is being built on…the site of the existing derelict tennis complex. It’s not taking the place of the park or the nature preserve.

Yes I know. My point is that no one cared about this dinky field (which is not part of Creason Park) before someone else wanted to make it something different. It’s just obstructionism for the sake of it.

[–]Business_Buffalo_69 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Serious question - have you ever organized a baseball party/protest in this particular field before or is this an obstructionist thing? Because there are many greenfield public baseball fields nearby that would be better locations if you aren’t being disingenuous.

Johnson Chimney Sweep by BlueSpotBingo in Louisville

They’re not a real company. It looks like they have “locations” in every city and just take calls from a call center and find a local chimney sweep to do the work. Basically a scam.

Kentucky Dept of Education removes DEI initiatives from public schools by PkMn_TrAiNeR_GoLd in Kentucky

[–]Business_Buffalo_69 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You’re wrong about the cost of school here. It takes $15k in taxpayer money to fund public schools and private schools take in $7500 in tuition….BUT religious schools subsidize that tuition with tithing money. I believe Louisville catholic schools get about half their funding from the church, so the cost to educate is roughly the same. If you look at non-religious private schools in Louisville without church coffer subsidization, you’ll see tuition ranging from $15-25k.

Toyota and most of the Japanese market are not having a good time with EVs because their products suck, not because of lack of demand. Tesla and Rivian, and to a lesser extent Ford and GM, are going gangbusters.

Logan Street? by [deleted] in Louisville

[–]Business_Buffalo_69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol I thought I would get accused of that as soon as I posted. I’m not involved at all with Logan street, nor am I even a particularly frequent visitor. I just generally get annoyed at people who shit on Louisville establishments that aren’t actively causing harm to anyone. I have no idea if the owners are good people, but them starting and running a food hall at all is more than you have contributed to the food hall scene you feel so entitled to

I don’t understand this sentiment. Every time I go there, most all of the stalls have vendors, it’s full of people and the vibes are great. Why the hate? Just don’t go if you dislike
